I believe that SL will be back up on time as scheduled... possibly earlier... then minor issues will cause them to take us back down for an hour to fix them... then back up and things in SL will be abnormal as usual.

And, if its a major issue. Grid is back up on time which is usual. Things go crazy and they take it down for a few hours. Grid comes back up for a few minutes (so its not down for too long). Grid then goes back down because things were not totally fixed for another hour at least maybe more. Grid comes back up and hopefully its all well and good. But this we really never know now do we? Such is the life in Second Life. If you don't know you can't worry. Or so it goes something like that. We always have something that isn't quite right. I think sooner or later they hope we will just take it as it is and be happy to pay. Nah just kidding. I think sooner or later it will be much better. Either that or compitition will make that happen eventually. All remains to be seen yet though of course. Isaac |

Isaac SL has a firm policy on major issues, they are to be regarded as bugs and placed at the bottom of the buglist, Read in a quorum, manipulated as to thier need to repair or replace, filed in a sealed container marked possibly important, then released into an update at a time to be determined. though on a lighter note last night my friends reported that my region was not showing on the map... I checked and the whole region was grey... and point to point tp was not working... however it was the first time all on the sim I own reported no lag in days |

I predict they will open as scheduled but it will be premature. I say this because Linden Labs been busy and distracted by SLCC; this upgrade is more major then normal; they were already having major problems with island sims and excessive lag in numerous mainland sims. In my mind this all adds up to them probably being less prepared then usual for this upgrade.
I hope I'm wrong! _____________________

Early is my guess, it seems like the 5th hour is a buffer, and its usually up in the 4th.

11:37 is my entry in the pool.
Of course, this is just my guess for the initial reopen... im not counting the 5 times in the next 3 days SL will be down due to some massive problem caused by a = instead of a == in the code, that should have been discovered but was not due to inadequate testing. |

Like LordGrim, I feel SL will be brought back up on time. Then due to the new group tools ejecting everyone from all groups in SL, including the creators, and the fact that all group owned land will revert to Governor Linden and be grabbed up by automated land swwoper scripts for 1L per m...the grid will be take down again within 2 hours and not return until later in the evening. At which point Torley will report that none of the land taken by swoopers can be tracked by LL and that residents must deal with the issue amongst themselves because LL refuses to be involved in resident disputes.

Not only is this very scary. It would have all hell breaking lose for sure. I could see it now. This would most defanitly be the end if this did happen. I don't think it will and I'll be most happy that it didn't. This would be just plain crazyness. Not that I don't doubt it would be the way LL might follow it I just don't like to think about this idea too hard. Isaac |

Minor issue anounced on Official blog:
Grid down following 1.12.0 deploy August 23rd, 2006 by Joshua Linden Tags : none We identified an glitch in the way we brought up the grid following the 1.12.0 deploy which unfortunately means we need to restart the grid. We’re doing so as quickly as possible. Glitch damn they did not say minor issue but close... See you in an hour MilosZ |

No lag? Then you weren't effected by the fresh prince cube marching band? LOL i have seen a few posts about this i havent seen them but it sounds pretty weird. Could this also be a reason why the grid is down again, apart from what it says on the blog? |
