Actually it's the sound of the space/time continuum unzipping... but this embarrasses space/time and we struggle a bit before I manage to get through. Later, (or possibly earlier, or even not at all) Type40 (highly modified) Heh. Nice to meet ya Compassion. ![]() As to Hiro's mention of a theramin in the theme, I've heard just about all of them (including a couple that did not make the cut as well as several home made ones - ah, the legal uses of Napster ![]() Now, to get back on topic (Sorry Jeska et al. ![]() ![]() _____________________

The subliminal floating text appears when there is floating text directly in your 'reverse' line of sight. You can force the effect by standing with you back to a wall of vendors with floating text. The closer you are, the easier to get the text into view. Also, you can mousescroll your view as far as it goes, position yourself so that floating text is dead center of your screen, then scroll closer to your av, and the text will remain visibale.
So, it's a bug, but to see it, you need to be positioned just right. I haven't tested the maximum distance the effect works, but I've seen it from about 30-40m in front of the vendor with floating text. |

Wow, this rises potential of some serious mind-f***ing. the original Exorcist movie in theaters had subliminal images of death hidden in the movie, and people were leaving the theatter, vomitting, etc, where after the movie had the images removed this did not happen -- proof that subliminal imaging has a real effect on people. That's an incorrect allegation against the film at the time. The scenes in question were no more subliminal that modern jump-cut editing used in films like Fight Club, Seven and other 'edgy' films. The shots in question in the Exorcist were simply a gaunt demon-like figure in a lot of white grease-paint makeup scowling and it was VERY visible and apparent, so that's hardly subliminal, since the point of a subliminal message is that it's not something you can peceive. Really, Wikipedia can better explain how most consider subliminal messages to be a load of bunk than I feel like typing out. |

On the first instance, my back was to the Forest Store. It was quite far from me, and there were walls or ground between me and the store vendors, but the store was still on a line of sight that might be right. I'll have to try that for a known case, as you suggest. Very interesting bug! |
