"It's just a Game" The Anthem of people who usually use it as an excuse to behave outstandingly Crappy to others and are seeking a lame excuse for doing so.
I hear this a Lot,,"It's only a game" But it's usually from the Mouths of Griefers, Theives, Con artists, and Abusive Children.
Perhaps for some it IS only a game, But the kind of person who treats SL that way, OR for that matter, treats other players of any Game in the way they do, Is not someone i Really want to Know.

Second Life is clearly not a game," "There's plenty of game-like behavior and plenty of play within it, but really, just about any definition of game you find there's usually some goal component. I think it comes down to the more individual level, whether you consider real life a game." This is true. The word "game" evokes, at the very least, a set of formal rewards and penalties.

From: JD Cahill Mr. Pierterson, I would tend to agree. And without seeming confrontational, I would like to ask if your 3600+ posts have all been non-argumentative or is this a proverbial "new leaf" idea your suggesting? I'd say its about half and half. I like a good debate, but I also try to bring humor to others. This is where arguments fail on both sides. Neither side can define what the other side feels, only what they individually feel. The word 'game' for example evokes 'fun, entertainment' to me, with no regard to rewards or penalties.

Life is a game and we're all the players. Life is a stage and we the actors. (probably misquoted that badly) Life is creating learning growing exploring loving laughing Life is sometimes wonderful, sometimes merely good, and sometimes it just plain sucks. Life is a million different things every moment you live it. Now put the word "Second" in front of all those and you have just an extra place to live. Manage to do it all in both First and Second and you've got one hell of a good deal. Anyway, thats my take on it in my half asleep state here.

To him its not a game. To me it is. To Samantha it is a platform. To Bill it is a toy. Not one of us is wrong unto our own definitions. After all, SL is not the same for everyone. I just wish people would just move past defining SL for othes.

Google: "secondlife is a" [SEARCH] SecondLife is a whole different animal from most online VR environments SecondLife is a unique environment with very unique requirements. SecondLife is a fairly libertarian realm (easily done since there's no need for roads or utilities) served by benevolent libertarian gods (the Lindens) Secondlife is a virtual wildwest in terms of business SecondLife is a good idea if you ask me. SecondLife is a perfect example of what French social theorist Jean Baudrillard calls a simulacrum SecondLife is a free online virtual world. SecondLife is a big place, but from what I have seen, there are a lot of casinos and stores. SecondLife is a controlled Metarealm. SecondLife is a small world and the lines between instructor, student, and resident blur in a continuous ebb and flow of information and activity. SecondLife is a platform that users can expand on Secondlife is a online MMO created by LindenLab SecondLife is a metaverse or virtual world SecondLife is a smaller but interesting world that offers free membership. {than Norrath... but I'm not sure that's true... try walking across each! -- jops} SecondLife is a perfect world - you can wear only your knickers in public and not get arrested or cold! SecondLife is a Massively Multi-Player Online Role-playing Game (MMPORG) SecondLife is a fantasy world. Secondlife is a great game, if you dont mind having no objectives, and spending some real life money in world. secondlife is a shared virtual world where you can make your own everything Secondlife is a trademark of Linden Labs. SecondLife is a weird one. SecondLife is a complex beast {SecondLife is a persistant and evolving virtual world used by many people for many different reasons. -- Jops}
