Yesterday I lost most of my non copy objects that were stored in a prim because of the asset server problems. Last time around I lost all of my textures. Pretty steep losses. Some only lost one item..I heard reports about missing hula hoops. What did you lose this time around because of this RECURRING problem with the inadequate asset server? Why does LL push for more members when the program cant handle what is here now?

So I'm clear, were they stored in a prim because of the asset problems or were they lost because of the asset problems?
You sure you didn't delete the prim?

I lost my patio chairs yesterday morning.
I did a bunch of stuff to my land, went to lunch (noon central), and then came back and found the sim reset to the state it was when I woke up. Patio chairs gone! (I have no idea who made them. They were my very first furniture buys.)
So I filed a bug report, and then several hours later the Lindens made their announcement about the asset server.
I miss my patio chairs and will remember them fondly. I had the best talks while sitting in them.

From: katykiwi Moonflower Why does LL push for more members when the program cant handle what is here now? Because their venture capitalists want to see 1,000,000 users by the end of 2006 or they'll pull the plug.

Today I came to the forums to ask the same question, because I lost an entire folder. ALL my animals are gone My Statosky wolf, my deer, my crane, my ducks, my pixies etc. etc. and who knows what else I have lost the Statosky wolf once before and had to replace it (and now went and bought it for the third time). I lost another folder with furniture, one with clothes and one with rarely used items. These folders were NOT deleted "by mistake". I want to be able to back up my inventory SOMEHOW. If anyone knows how to do it, please post. Thank you.

I've never lost inventory that I've noticed; but it's kept down to between 3k and 4k items. I can't prove that it helps; but it makes me feel better.

I lost so many when 1.7 started and all items i moved with the select more feature..well im not using it anymore..then game was down for another update..so i went back to the preview and saw my items were still in the preview..I have an exact list of what i lost..and still they cant do anything, coz i didnt hear anything back on my mails..
this really pisses me off..its about worth 7k and then they tell u to ask the makers for a new copy..oh man like they would do that
I hold my breath when i think about this new update, what will i lose now

Precariously close to losing a major reason the game is good for me. I hope today's upgrade brings relief for those who utilize physics in their creations.

This goes to show how much a client side inventory is a must to solve these crappy bugs that constantly keep rearing up and biting our butts. Discussions on client side inventory is in this thread at the moment:- A serious (but likely unpopular) question /108/72/51863/1.html

Basically you open up real-value assests to hacking and duplication. No MMOG has solved that problem and consequently the ones that REALLY want to avoid it don't store such assets on the client side.
