I have created a piel... that apparently crashes the sim I'm in when I enable physics

...WTF?

Okay... so I made a pie... just... a pie. I enable physics, and I was going to shift click it so I could drop some copies of it onto someone's head... then the sim crashes. So I log back in after a bit, try it again, and the sim crashes again.

Theeeeen... I go eat breakfast at Bill Johnson's Big Apple. While I was there, I wondered if my pie was making the sim crash... but I really didn't think that made any sense, there's no scripts in it or anything, not even any textures.

So I came home, planted two plants outside, came back inside and came back to SecondLife... I went to the same place I was before, tried it again, AND ZEE SIM CRASHED AGAIN, so I'm like WTF!?

So then I met up with a few people who were in the sim I just crashed (x.x), and I told them that I thought it might have been me causing those crashes. (x.x) So I rez in the pie, and try to enable physics for it (we're in a different sim now), ... and of course, it crashes.

Okay, update, it goes like THIS:

1. Rez zee pie.

2. Click on it. (duh)

3. Enable physics.

4. Shift-click-drag in an ill-fated attempt to copy the pie, which results in the sim crashing.

If I just enable physics, and then click off of the pie, the pie will fall to the ground and everything will be dandy.

Welcome to SL's Havok implementation totally sucking.

edit: As you're copying, the pie is intersecting with a copy of itself and causing the crash. Yeah, it sucks.

Perhaps you simply need a new pie recipe that will provide a lighter, flakier crust.

I can show you how to crash a sim w/ just 3 prims w/ physics enabled.

It's great. I can reset my own sim on demand. Whenever my vendor is failing to give the customer an item because of the llGiveInventory() bug. I just go and reset/crash my sim.

I had, a 6 ounce sirloin steak and two fried eggs and hashbrowns and biscuits and gravy and I came NOWHERE NEAR finishing it all. x.x

Anyways, I've had physics-enabled objects that didn't crash when I copied them in the same manner as zee pie of doom.

... ehh... is it "supposed" to crash whenever *any* physics-enabled object is intersecting itself? o.o?

I make an apple pie that crashes the real world. I can't take credit for it, it's my Mom's recipe.

Clearly the pie needs some ice cream on it to prevent crashes.

OMG she stole my grandmother's recipe! I am SO going to start a thread with pictures of both of their pies, clearly demonstrating how my grandmother's was first- and BETTER at crashing the world, at that.

I think posting pictures of people's real life pies is against the TOS.

It's my opinion that crap physics and the sim crashing that goes with it are the biggest hold up to this game moving beyond a laggy chat ap.

Since i've been here, going on two years, i haven't seen a single improvement with physics. If anything sim crashing from physical collisions are up.

***please BUG REPORT sim crashes due to physics. I doubt they even read them, doesn't seem possible when they must come in by the boat load each day, but they seem to gather data from the header to the crash report. X percent of crashes from this Y percent from that yada yada. LL claim that physics are not the main cause of crashing. I'm sure it's because most people don't use and even AVOID physical things cause SL physics SUCK ASS.

LL dev crew are busy doing more strategic things like making it say "editing appearance" when you are doing so.

I think they spend more time tweaking the #*$&#@ website home page and writing get free money propaganda then they ever have on physics.

FOR THE LOVE OF TOD, PHYSICS UPDATE PLEASE. Perhaps use some of the millions recently invested to hire someone with the skills required?

Untill then any stray physical torus collision or physical object interpolation may melt a sim.
