No sarcasm intended. I was being very truthful.
My point is, I wasn't.

Someone wrote in the Hotline to the Lindens board that 80% of the people do not want to go back to 1.6.13 However, this 80% is only 69 people and in all 86 people took part in the poll. I have walked around many areas of Second Life and almost by 100% people are very very very dissiappointed in 1.7.X.X So I want to know, since when does the will of 69 people override the will of 78,000? Yah 1.7 isn't perfect and to my recollection neither was 1.6 in its many incarnations. I have faith that 1.7 will improve given time. Rolling back to 1.6.13 is the stupidest most assinine idea I HAVE EVER HEARD OF. Why? Because, if you think people are pissed off now, just wait until you erase several weeks worth of work, content creation, sales, purchases and what not. Speaking for myself I would be quite irritated and would probably consider the long term worth of my investment in SL not only monetary, but time. If you had some sort of valid point or actual knowledge of how the massive complexities of the system actually work, I could perhaps see your point. You are not a bad person, but ferchrissakes quit complaining all the fucking time about how great 1.3 was, or that LL should give you free money or that we should role back to 1.6.13. GET OVER IT! Seriously, dood, don't you have anything better to do? On second thought, Maybe you should petition Linden Lab to make the Magnum ver 1.3 grid so you can live happily ever after in a world of inertia whilst the rest of us progress towards the future with the constant state of changes and updates. _____________________

The poll itself is invalid for a number of reasons. It was not conducted by a third-party independent of the issue at hand. The question is potentially biased. It does not randomly sample the resident population, and thus can't be extrapolated to represent views of the resident population as a whole. It has no measure of those persons that declined to take part in the poll. There is no measure of customer satisfaction prior to the release of version 1.7 for comparitive use. Even discounting the previous reasons and accepting the size of a volunteer "sample" the "sample" size itself is too small for a comfortable margin of error. Etcetera. Ad nauseum. This does not mean the opinions expressed in response to the poll are more or less valid, or better or more poorly informed. Just that this type of "polling" method can be discounted out of hand if you're seeking a measurable response based in proper statistical polling methods. It also doesn't mean that these kinds of polls are bad. Just that you shouldn't rely on them when formulating a decision or course of action. The poll simply provided a conversational hook for the rest of its thread. A thoughtful, well-informed discussion of polling statistics? Jeeze, what are the forums coming to? You aren't from around here are you, Elex? ![]() Very well put. |

And now, Deep Thoughts,
The law clearly states that a president and vice president be sworn in by a JUDGE. otherwise anyone can swear in anyone. Remember Republican Presidet Cavin Cooledge? When he leaned that President Harding had died, he got his father, to swear him in. But when he got back to Washington, Cooledge learned that there might be porblems since his father was not a federal judge so he had a Supreame Court Justice swear himself in again _____________________

Benjamin Disraeli said it best: there are three kinds of lies: Lies, damned lies, and statistics. Disraeli also said, "A fool learns nothing from a wise man, but a wise man learns much from a fool." I don't claim to be wise, but I know fools when I meet them. I've had my fill of the forums for awhile, where constructive ideas are met with the scorn of the ignorant and reason is answered with hostility. |
