Designer Awards???

Recently, I have noticed that Asri Falcone has in her signature, a couple of awards...I've asked around and no one I know has heard of any designer awards...so I was wondering if anyone knew:
Who is the body that gives out such awards and who is asked to vote? and why has no one I know ever heard of such an award?

I just want to know how other designers might get in on this action...

It looks like the appreciation award given by the folks of the Metaverse Messenger. The awardees were chosen by the readers of that paper. Different categories were brought up and I guess the readers IMed the editors their picks.

The awards that Asri displays were, indeed, from a poll called "The Best Of SL" that we took a couple of months ago at the Metaverse Messenger. Any SL resident was eligible to vote, and we plan to make this an annual thing.

Only because I know too many people who had no idea...I did, but forgot..even tried to vote on the ballot, but there was too much to vote on and I didn't have opinions on some of the categories yet...next time I'll be more participatory.

How many responses, total, did you get?

We advertised the contest as best as we could.. through the forums, event posts, repeated articles in the M2, etc. Being new meant that we just did not have much of a readership yet. Approximately 500 voted in the contest.

500 is a good response for your first run of this event. Congratulations on that.

Sounds to me you are unhappy with the results...
500 is actually a good amount when it comes to voting in SL, people dont like to participate in voting for some reason.

Hypothecially, what if any of the "Best of" is in question or is disbutable? Since not everyone was aware of this Award being handed out that may have a impact on the future of every SL person's life who didn't know or know of such a event and have just found out the outcome afterwards.

Does the Metaverse Messenger besides giving out awards have the ability to verify, make amendments, retract awards to ensure the integrity of such a prestigeous event?

Voting can also be tampered with using alts so it makes me wonder just out of curiousity.

I'm not going to get in the middle of this discussion. You and Asri are both committed to your points of view, but I have no way of knowing what is true.
The award to Asri was for best shoe/boot designer, not for a specify design. No alts were used in voting. I won't tell you how I know that; you'll just have to trust me.
Btw, just because I'm a nice person doesn't mean I don't recognize an attempt to use the Messenger in a personal fight.

As you are a serious publisher of a serious magazine in SL... you should of course tell it all... to get the both the awards and magazine even more serious..

How do you know for sure there was no alts voting?

LL doesn't tell how they ensure that no one who has already bought first land is able to do so again. Their rationale is that if they do, people may be able to find ways around those measures.

I'm not comparing the M2 to LL, but I do think there are some things that should be kept to ourselves. The "magazine" is actually a newspaper, and I believe that it has established itself as a serious publication.

But why not take the next step up to the greatest top of tops:

Why not try to be even more reliably as SL newspaper and tell us.. al how you know for sure. . so we all feel secure that no one more that then the the top of Linden Lab knows al about us.....

I didn't mention anyone's name, organization or group in my question. I only wanted to know how anything submitted can be judged fairly and recognition be given due....



This statement makes me wonder about how safe is our personal information privacy at this point then in SL. Blind trust is something i'm losing fast. I won't say anymore..

How did this degenerate so quickly? Simple question. Simple answer. It was a newpaper poll for cripes sake. There's no need for a massive investigation.

I have every right not to disclose information about business practices, and I have politely exercised that right.

I do hope the next one will get better response, I think it will.

Maybe a scripter can set something up...like Zonax's voting board for Show and Tells...the easier the voting, the better the response...

Then again, you get the "alt" question. I know that voting thru your website can sort of help...as I think you need an email address to do so, but with gmail and yahoo, hotmail...etc, there really are not guarantees.

First land can be purchased by an alt account. There was a thread about it not long ago...

For the record, Asri was not even aware of this contest until she was informed as being voted best shoe/boot designer...
And if you want to keep causing drama, I will stop trying to be nice, and clearly state MY THOUGHTS... even IF Asri did copy your shoes, which I know for a fact that is not the case, her shoes looks much better than yours, she took more time in texturing, more time in covering the foot, and more time in prim details.
