Has anyone happened to notice the "postcard from secondlife" on the main website page? You know, the one with the guy who has the big balls hanging out of his pants?

I happen to have a 13 year old daughter who surfs here occasionally.

I am not impressed.

How do you know those are testicles? Maybe it's something totally innocuous that, to one with a mind in the gutter, appears to be sexual?

Notice the expression of the "Shyguy" to the left. His mouth is agape.

It seems like there's been some delay with updating of piccies... I know some more have been taken in PG sims and they haven't shown up yet.

So the SL homepage needs to raise up off. 'Cause it gets none of these.

On a related note, has anyone noticed a trend recently for newbies to come off orientation island with massively distorted avs? It may have been going on for some time, but it seems much more frequent the last month or so. Avs whose only human proportions are that they have the right number of parts.

Having talked to a few, the (admittedly small unrepresentative) sample appears to consist of genuine newbies, rather than alts. They ask the same sorts of questions, and encounter the same sorts of difficulties, but it feels a bit like an ogre and troll convention. (Okay, when Psyra's around, it's more like Roc and Troll - Sorry. Had to say it)

Fashion? Quirk? Or have we hit some obscure psychological stratum?

I've often wondered about those pics. They seem to be coming straight off snapzilla, so I was a little concerned that potentially anything someone snapped for that could wind up on the front page. Oh, it's easy enough to keep it off, I should think. Just take your naughty photo, and then snap a sunset or something right after as a followup.

But still, there's a CS issue lurking in there. secondlife.com itself is PG country. This would seem to preclude me taking snaps of - say - giant penises (And don't get me wrong, it's devastatingly unlikely that I would do that) or anything else that doesn't fit a PG rating. Even if snapzilla allows it.

Thankfully, this isn't our problem, really. We can draw it to LL's attention, but it's up to them to decide what if anything to do.

Why isn't SEXONDLIFE.COM taken yet to showcase the best of SL mature content? That way there's a place for all those piccies to go!

Prob I see is there's so much of an avenue here for mature content but it doesn't get promoted enough, or it has a stigma.

Honestly? No issue whatever with erotica, or pornography, in it's place. In-world, it all seems a bit too goofy for me, but heck. There should be a place where images of SL erotica, pornography and yiff can live happily, IMO. Hopefully somewhere out of sight of thems whats disapproves of such things.

Yeah... I hope everything in its right place, where those who want it can find it and those who don't can stay clear, or at the least, not have it jammed intrusively into their avatar eyes and all spammylike.

I'm usually pretty decent in SL. But I don't mind this kind of snapshot, really that's quite funny. SL is for adults.

1st, if you think your daughter never saw that kind of stuff, you are wrong.
Whenever you enter the net, you will OBVIOUSLY, parent watched or not, see adult related content. As Ingrid said, I am pretty decent as well, a LOT of stuff shock me, but I don't really get shocked by avatar sexual stuff, because geez, it's PIXELS!! All I get mad of is violent related content (we have enough in real life tahnk you).
But I seriously don't think any 12 years old people would get traumatised by this, she would probably laugh about it and, voila, is over it.
I have a 4 years old boy, and I am 22, and I *know* he is going to be exposed to that kind of stuff no matter what I do, as a parent, I think your job is not to hide it, but to explain some stuff, and let them know what is real life, and what is important or not.
That's it. On another note tho, yes I DO think SL should revise pictures in the front page or something. Simply because if I had never heard of SL and saw that pic or another weird kind, I wouldn't reg.

The way I've seen it explained the pictures are not taken from Snapzilla but taken before they get to Snapzilla. First they only come from PG sims. And because you are posting them anyways to Snapzilla, you wouldn't midn them published.

If someone posted something blatantly non-PG, they would risk violated the TOS and there would be evidence.

As for those balls, while some might find them offensive, some cartoons show worse. But granted some of those cartoons are rated M.

Techincally, wouldn't (wood) that make them acorns? 'Accurate' and 'scary' only to the degree that they attract hungry squirrels.

Actually, we should all be happy that they weren't grey and actually were displaying and caching their texture properly. I HATE it when my nuts turn grey because my brain keeps losing cache and forgetting what texture to apply to them.

I just thought of something. With 1.7, the appendages in question could be scripted to sway and dangle as appropriate. What if this functionality had already been implemented and the still image we saw was but the faintest glimmer of the horrors yet in store?
