A serious question, why do you continue to play secondlife? Why havent you gone onto another game? What is the first thing you remember doing in secondlife that got you hooked?

Thats a great question, one I often find myself pondering.

Alots happened recently, both in my RL and my SL, and Iunno how many time's i've been a drama queen and im'ed my nearest and dearest and said i'm selling the sim and going... Yet... I never can bring myself to do it.

I love SL, I love my friends, SO SO much, I have met SO many wonderful people on here, that really do brighten my day, and I can't imagine not talking to them AV to AV (yahoo just isn't the same sometimes yannow?).

So what keeps me in SL are my friends, the love and fun I recieve from them. I also admire the content creators that keep making me poor. I love the new ideas people are always coming up with.

My problem is, i'm lazy, and have the patience of a not very patient person, I try and build, I end up breaking mice, I try and photoshop and well lets just say the air turns blue. I KNOW I am a very capable person, I KNOW I could make something that would make people think I have talent, but, I just don't have the motivation to sit and take my time over anything, i'd rather be chatting... >.>

We all get stuck in ruts, and try and justify leaving, some of us actually manage it, I don't think i'll ever be one of those people tho, scale back - maybe, leave - never.

Freedom to do what I want. I can build, buy, sell, and do most anything I want. I can also do nothing. That is why I am still here. That and business reasons. :)

Challenge, choice and availability. I can learn what I want by making whatever I choose as it fits my schedule.

Pixel Sex?;)

Ok, no, not really.

I've developed some very good friendships in SL, including one that is now also a RL friend.

That's the biggest draw for me. People.

I have. Games. I lead a balanced online life - if that's not a contradiction in terms.

I built something, and somebody said it was good and they'd never seen anything like it before. And that made me grin.

Lack of viable alternative choice.

And a decent measure of hope that the Lindens will realization the growing amount of alienation they are causing, and do something about it before that viable alternative arrives.

Ulrika has me locked in a cage in a Neualtenburg dungeon. Occasionally she gives me water and pecan pie.

Just like Willow, I find myself asking that Question often. Moreso lately. If anything, I would only take a break. Second Life has been just that... a second life. Just like others, I've made friends in SL that would be impossible (due to the distance) to carry on a relationship irl and therefore stay.

SL is the first online 3d community that i've been in and for me there is no other comparison and don't plan to go try another. Its a loyalty issue with me I suppose. I guess I would feel like I was cheating on SL if that makes any sense lol. :p

Quite simply, SL offers a freedom of creation, coupled with interaction, that nothing else I've seen does. Lots of programs allow for creation, and lots allow for interaction, but only SL has managed to blend the two so seamlessly, (bugs notwithstanding) and have them rely so heavily upon each other.

It's the ability to create, and show off in the same program. :D

On a more personal note, there are some incredibly cool people I enjoy hanging out with. (Hi Friday night gang!)

The people, people. There are some amazing folks in SL--smart, funny, cool, crazy, kind, inventive, creative--I have been blessed, really.

I was asked to leave, at one point (RL difficulty). I tried--really, I did. I just missed my in-world friends too much. I might have looked like a complete idiot announcing that I was leaving, then turning around and coming right back, but I don't care.

What first made me want to stay? To quote a brilliant woman, my best friend in-world and out, "It is just the gosh-wowy-ness of the whole thing." That, and the first pos rate someone gave me for a textured prim I left in Morris on my second day in-world.

I just want my MTV ....

Wait...wrong forum?
*someone whispers in hir ear*

Oh!

Wrong decade...that's right, MTV doesn't play music anyway...

Uhmm...Oh! I know, it's the people and the buildings and well, pretty much the unbound creative freedom one has to be whomever, whatever, whenever, however. Even with Double Stuff Oreos! You could even *BE* a giant Oreo....

What? Double Stuffed Oreos are good! Well...unless they're evil...and then they've got the red and black swirly filling....but sometimes it's hard to tell because that swirly can be hidden underneath a sprayed on layer of white.

*blinks*

Yes, I know I'm new (Less than 1 week at the time of this post). But if I didn't like this game, wait, is this a game? I wouldn't exist without this world......so I'm rather hesitant to call it a game...It is a wonderful social experiment! There we go....

*wanders off to spend more time on the grid*
