In my opinion the AR system is seriously flawed as it is.
Putting a big "offender" sign on that person wouldnt solve anything.
I've been suspended before. Twice actually.
Once for an innocent gun fight that went... bad.
Once because I was drunk while someone verbally attacked my good friend and I kinda took it to extremes.
Does that put me in the same boat as an innocent who was framed?
Or someone who intentionally crashed the whole grid?

The problem is, once you start down that road, you get into questions of types of classifications, or people start demading explainations to the community for what they got suspended for.

This involves every conceivable possibility. Tarnishing an innocent person's name accidentaly, giving a truly sadistic minded person what he deserves, and everything in-between.

Its a can of worms that frankly, I dont think needs to be opened. SL isnt a democracy, we're not entitled to anything. Effectively LL lets us be part of this community and gives us rules to follow to protect the interests of everyone else around us. If we break those rules, we face the possibility of not being allowed to play anymore.

Its their call, not ours. Granted, they try to do a good job at it. I think they do. I wont claim innocence for my past mistakes. I broke the rules, I served my time. I've never been one to learn things the easy way. In the end though, they own it. If they want to terminate business with a client, it has nothing to do with what we think about it.

And in my opinion it shouldnt.

Thanks.

P.S. if you see me and I'm drunk with weapons out, tell me to go to bed. :D

If your wishing to expose the griefer you gota suffer with your OWN info being able to take the same fate. It isnt like LL can read all our minds and determin who is a griefer...

On the other hand, how many reports of abusive behavior wouldn't be made if there was the possibility of retribution, due to the reporter's name being revealed?

Revealing the reporter, even the relative few who have abused the AR system, will just result in fewer reports, not fewer reportable acts. Doesn't sound anywhere near "win" to me.

When we submit reports, our names always appear on the reports, so there's no "mind reading" needed.

I believe you missed the point of the thread the poll is about whether LL should make our names (as reporters) appear on the website alongside the name of a punished party.

Given the choice, would you opt into allowing Linden Lab to reveal your identity when your abuse report resulted in their temporary suspension from the forums and grid?

Why or why not?

If ppl think they are secretly reporting posts then they need to think again.

When up to several thousand people can be online at any given point, using the "Who's online" display to finger a reporter is, to put it mildly, an exercise in futility, particularly when the offense needn't have been reported when the reporter is still in the same area (or even clear on the other side of the virtual globe) as the person being reported.

It would be more fun to opt to have your own name, or that of the person of your choice displayed.
