The reserve price was set way too high.
Not too sure what the thought process was on this one....

Nice exposure. See how high the bidding will go.

What is the point of bidding under the reserve price? 27 people get it. I don't.

The reserve price is hidden. None of the bidders *knew* what it was.

A reserve auction might start with an opening bid of $0.01. Somewhere up there is the minimum that the seller will accept. $10 for this comic book... $250 for this guitar... or whatever. The idea is to bid high enough to make the reserve without agreeing to pay waaaay more than what the seller was even hoping to get. :p

I have always found the hidden reserve price to be absurd. Needless dickering at the low end while well short since people don't want to just up the bid and have no idea where to start. Not to metion quite possibly having people give up just short of the reserve when they are continually finding their bid below reserve.

The idea that you can somehow hoodwink someone into paying more than they think the item is worth by not telling them how much your minimum price is seems ridiculous. If you set the reserve right, you should be happy with getting that price. If there is enough demand, people may bid it up.

40 accounts hmmmm that would explain how we hit 100,000 so quickly.... I wonder how many more of those 100,000 were 'pre allocated' to similar sales?

While we're necroposting, it would be interesting to see the auction ended at $4,050 with the reserve not met.

Because that was posted over a month ago before anyone knew whether they were selling the island or whether it was someone inpersonating them..

Look at the post date, please.

I agree 100%, just start it at the reserve price.. If people want it, they'll bid..

The other thing I don't get is people asking you to change your auctions for a buy it not price, just bid up to what you'd pay for buy it now!!

It is nice that you all like Hawaii sim and i hope to put more Aloha spirt into SL.

Hope your idea works out Wilder Linden it is not easy to make a theme sim and I would say that 10k is a very good price. i have over 500hrs into Hawaii sim. The look and feeling and likeness is the hard part to make.
