i don't mean a voice chat, a text chat.
I have replace the HtmlHelpHomepage setting in the settings.xml file and am now chatting in the F1 help browser in Crisitiano's chat room. sluniverse has had a voice chat for ages, and a javachat room to use the #secondlife IRC channel _____________________

I'm not at war with anyone - I'm a huge fan of the Second Citizen forums and post there regularly. SLU's forums have been around since 2003, and will remain regardless as a place to post. I think the more options there are, the better - each site has its own feel and community, and you are not restricted to posting on just one site. PS - thank you Suezanne for your enthusiasm about the integrated chat  _____________________

Here's the sluniverse chat being run in the in-world F1 mozilla browser:  We need to make them give a mozilla browser window as soon as humanly possible, then people like Cris and the other folks with resident run websites can give us forums and chatrooms that are visible inworld and on the web as well if wanted. _____________________

Neato! Does it lag you down at all? 31 client FPS at the moment. I have a packet loss problem but that's been around for several weeks now. I need to get the entire internet to upgrade everything, i think. This is why I asked about the progress on the mozilla browser in the answers forum. We don't need HTML on a prim to get immensely useful and fun stuff going on - just let us have access to a separate mozilla window, separate from the help window so the new users get a help window that won't get screwed up, and I think they need to change some of the settings in the mozilla init files, I think they have some stuff nerfed that would work with just a settings change. _____________________

Hmm, what would it take to link the different forum site's chat things together?
I''d like to see user operated chat rooms that can be displayed in a mozilla window in-world, or on the web, or on mobile phones, for that matter, replace or augent the in-world IM system. One advantage is that chat done that way wouldn't appear mixed in with the proximity chat. Another advantage would be that some channels could maintain the last hundred or 500 or whatever posts and thus when you logged into a chat channel you could see what people had been talking about. Some channels could allow display of pictures in the chat window. All (or some) of the power of the internet viewable in-world. Get it all tied in together and drag a picture from your inventory into the chat window and it appears in the chat display. Stuff like that. _____________________
