Since the grid is down and we are expecting a major update today, I thought I'd celebrate by doing 50 extra situps and running ALL my errands, and doing EVERYTHING on my RL to do list before I log into SL. I wonder how long it'll take.

Anyone else doing anything constructive today?

On your mark, get set, Go!
/me Turns monitor off and whips out to do list

Sorry MadamG, I gave up doing anything constructive almost five years ago. I'm not about to reverse that trend at my age!

It's all hookers and blow 'til my dying day...

Grid down: Do something else

I'm just posting in the forums untill the grid comes back up. Not much else, and what the heck is up with calling it a grid anyway? The only thing I'm guessing as to why they call it a grid has something to do with the way they mapped it!

Don't quote me, but I think it is called a "grid" due to the way all the servers are interlaced to make one continuous world. One sever for every 4 sims is the average I believe.

The Grid
08-23-2006 09:24
The Grid was the term used to refer to cyberspace in William Gibson's first novel Neuromancer. It's quite likely a passing reference to this amongst other reasons.

That and the fact SL is... a... grid.

I was in Home Depot one time and heard two employees joking about the commercial and saying "You can do it...we can watch"

Made me laugh.
