How about:
"I'm never going to be famous. My name will never be writ large on the roster of Those Who Do Things. I don't do anything. Not one single thing. I used to bite my nails, but I don't even do that anymore."
-Dorothy Parker
I truly regret the passing of the forums. I repeat: closing the forums is a big, big mistake. Sure, there is a great deal of poopy, animosity, grumpiness, and bile posted daily, but the vast majority of regular forum posters is, to a large extent, SL's brain trust. The forums record and perputate the history and culture of what LL is trying to extend and enlarge.
Oh well. Meh.
Anyone need some random silliness from an ex-SL forums regular?

Roo:
Your input alone is a compelling reason for me to mourn the loss of the forums. Aside from a random thought that the guy should have just moved back from an elephant who was recently fed laxatives, I think you have an excellent point about transcribing internet history. If SL's travel into what it is becoming is not chronicled (and chronicled not in various and sundry blogs, but in a central rabble rousing location), we've lost part of the meaning in the journey. How shall the story be told? I never really saw it that way before. Wow.
I suppose it depends on an excellent scripter now to devise a way to communicate grid-wide (an opt in policy included) for future mass interactivity.
Long live the Hoi Polloi.

Thank you, sweet Nether. <hugs and hugs> Indeed, long live the Hoi Polloi; they are the cannon fodder.

I always enjoy Hudson's (Bill Paxton) comments from Aliens, with this string the most appropriate in my opinion:
Game over man, game over! We're fucked! What the fuck are we supposed to do now? What're we gonna do?

From: Sensual Casanova An apology from Ulrika for her false accusations and slander. Yes, that would be awesome. Nothing quite like sending 3+ years of written history off like an apology from someone who didn't mean it to a slim minority of people here. I think the last post should be Monty Python's "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life." In fact, I'll post that thread now.

Whatever the last post is, it should be something written hastily and clumsily, without careful consideration, that the poster then tries to edit, but ... oops! Read-only now.

Some of my favorite farewells:
The Grapes of Wrath - “That's what makes us tough. Rich fellas come up an' they die an' their kids ain't no good, an' they die out. But we keep a-comin'. We're the people that live. They can't wipe us out. They can't lick us. And we'll go on forever, Pa... 'cause... we're the people.”
The Sands of Iwo Jima - “All right! Saddle up! Let's get back in the war!”
Lethal Weapon - “I’m too old for this.”
Pulp Fiction - “I think we oughta leave now.” “That's probably a good idea.”

I'm all for the Mary Tyler mMoore show approach - we have Flipper as Ted Baxter say - a little song a little dance a little seltzer down your pants. Then we all follow out singing a long way to Tiperari. Finally Jeska comes back in sheds a single tear, and shuts the lights and we fade to black and run credits.
