Don't use Outlook or Outlook Express (though they've gotten better recently).

Actually, just turn off preview pane and don't display messages in HTML, and you should be pretty much OK.

To me this was more violating than rape, worse than a terror attack, in fact it was one, when you spend all your life on computers, when you think you know what your doing...

WTF?

Obviously you have never been raped or a victim of a terroist attack. I assure you both are much more horrific than a computer virus or a keylogger.

Can someone please advise me (and us) of programs that will fix spyware that cause registry corruption.... meaning, if there's a virus/trojan that changes your registry, so even after you remove the virus, it either replicates instantly, or reloads when you restart?

Wow.

Anyway, another very good way to avoid a lot of nasty stuff is to stay as far away from Internet Explorer as you possibly can. Something else to keep in mind is that there are a LOT of "anti spyware" tools out there that will goad you into purchasing the software based on false positives, and some even install spyware themselves.

An excellent page which lists over a hundred of these applications:

http://spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm

Please search the page for whatever anti-spyware tools you use to make sure they are not on the shady side.

Thanks for the post, Marisa - and know that 99% of us see it for what it is.

Yup I agree with that %100. I refer to Internet Explorer as the Evil Browser, stay well away from it. Go look for some hacking and exploit websites, and you'll see page after page of exploits. Good old microsoft did it again.

And also on the topic, forget windows firewall. I dont think you can even class it as a firewall, its implementation is laughable.
