From: Francis Chung I'm in-world now. I think the user server is down.
Everyone's calling card tells me that they're somewhere WAAAY to the south-west, and I can't seem to IM anyone.
Even objects that IM me don't seem to be able to send their messages through.
Does anyone know if teleporting is safe? ROAM is working, but it doesn't do islands.
On the plus side, since everyone's been booted off the grid, textures are rezzing much much faster. That's actually how I first noticed that something was funny :] The same exact thing was happening yesterday with friends in game showing them waaaaaaaaaay off the map and I couldn't send im's either (although it looked like I was when in fact they weren't receiving any of them). Of course it made me think I was not actually IN the game. Which oddly enough keeps happening. I don't even get a message saying that the sim is going down or that I have been idle too long. I am in game right now, just hanging out at my house. Now that I know this is going on, I am afraid to even ATTEMPT to teleport. Dare I have hope that this update will actually help or is it just a fantasy that eventually things will be better?

From: Darkness Anubis Is anyone else having visions of the 1.5 debacle revisited? I'm assuming most have heard the term, SOSDD? Same Old Shit, Different Day? Well, got a new 1, SOSDU. Same Old Shit, Different Update. I just pray I don't see an update w/regards to the little Help Pointer icon thread from earlier. IF that was implemented over performance LL has some serious priorities issues. On the flip side, if it was implemented due to it actually improving performance more power to them. Thanks again LL for confusion, unnecessary concerns & being consistent in something.....being consistently inconsistent to SL.

I'm confused... what time does the forums run on? I saw posts from 8:50 am and figured, oh, this must have happened a long time ago... I mean it's 1 am on the west coast of the US... ...but I can't log in... I guess it's 9 am right now... somewhere in the world, and here on the forums...

You can always tell when there is login trouble by the dozen or so identical posts that appear in the Hotline. THE LINDENS FUCKING KNOW ALREADY! Do you think they'll get the fucker back online any faster if you all post to the Hotline or something?

Okeydoke my fellow Resis of Second Life... I gotta funny story to tell you... Shortly before all this happened, I was hanging out with Francis Chung inworld. There was a sudden SEIZE for me where everything slowed down. Not quite sure why... but it slowed to a CRAWL, and for cryin' out loud, not even plywood cube textures would load. They were all smokey and gray. I zoomed in to take a good piccie of one, just to capture this for the moment. But then... but then— They suddenly loaded into view. I cranked my bandwidth down, relogged, hoping things would load SLOWER. Unfortunately (how ironic), this was not the case. I began to complain out loud to Fran (as my blessed, bystanding witness), that EVERYTHING WAS LOADING TOO FAST! I was panicking, and I was like "Why can't things load slower!" So I headed off to some texture rich areas, and the textures proceeded to load blazingly fast again. I conked my head on the primcurb and logged off once more. Again, same result—fast loading! WHAT IN THE... Again, a logoff... and logon. Or so I thot. This time, it didn't work. Stuck at Verifying protocol version... which leads us up to the present. This is what I call the CAMPFIRE PHASE of when login problems happen. It occurs after Lindens have informed us of what's going wrong, and we sit around in the SL Forums, those of us who can't get in, and share stories for warmth and other silliness, and also recollect tales from our SL addiction. Many reactions vary—Residents are a diverse group—and ultimately... It's just wonderful we can still be here and share!

A warm welcome to posting on the SL Forums, Collin! Whenever there's probs like this, I go around looking for who's on Post Number 1. The brightside of it is it brings people here, who normally wouldn't post. Hopefully they can stay for more meaningful discussion and fun in the future!

Do you think they'll get the fucker back online any faster if you all post to the Hotline or something? We're not just talking to the Lindens here, we're talking to each other too... until i checked the forums and saw the numerous messages i thought it was my computer that was the problem. There is no need to be insulting to those of us who actually like complaining to each other. If it bothers you, stop reading. Oh and a short message to everyone else.... the website shows some of my friends are online but talked to them in skype and actually some of them are really locked out too... the page is just showing them as in game when they're actually not. So who knows how many really are.

Hey DaVinci, if you're as suggestively inventive as your name, well, suggests, quick, jot those ideas down! Hopefully you can get them out soonesque.
