We are supposed to have an upgrade tomorrow, so where is the normal pre-upgrade Grid Attack?

I heard their QA delayed its release due to crashes.

Quote this in every reply, you'll have a grid attack.

How exactly do you expect there to be a grid attack if they put a throttle in place to prevent it?

Dang, you're right, come to think of it!

Well, I had a small griefer attack of my own tonight.

Guy dressed to the gills in a lot of fearsome looking stuff comes onto my Annex where I'm busy making a trivet and says hi. I say hiya! How are you, he says. Fine! And you?

Pretty soon I'm in some kind of firey cage. I'm sitting down anyway, so I continue to work on my trivet.

He tells me I can't get out of that. I tell him I wasn't planning to go anywhere anyway.

He tells me yeah, but when I log off and log on again, I'll still be in it. I say, oh really, where did you buy it? He doesn't know.

So I click on it, and return it. He's all wtf? so I tell him, "I'm magic."

He asks me if I want to see something really cool, I say sure. He says, are you sure you want to see it? I say, "No."

He's starting to do whatever it is anyway, so I freeze him, and tell him, there's something really cool. While he's frozen, I also ban him.

When he's unfrozen, he asks me why I froze him. Well, I say, you wanted to see something really cool, and frozen is pretty cool. Then I eject him.

Whereupon he starts bombing me to death. So I figure out how to do an abuse report, and it turns out to be simple, since it is already filled in with the name and that I was "bumped."

I do that a few times, and he's still marching around my property with his gun. Finally I call live help and ask for a Liason, and a Linden responded rapidly. By that time, a friend has arrived, and he gets scared off, I guess, and says "I <3 you" and leaves, so I told the Linden he was gone.

I feel sorry for people with events, like Travis, who deal with this all the time. And now I understand why some people get mighty tempted to drag out the big guns and blow the griefer noob away.

With luck when new land tools are released we'll have better control over those who are a few brain cells short of a pair getting their kicks by testing out their new toys and testing one's patience.

You remember the scene in Crocodile Dundee where he pulls out this giant knife on these street hoods trying to mug him in NYC and says, "No, THIS is a knife"?

That's the kind of feeling people get, I bet, when some new griefer comes along like the one I met last night. How much more satisfying it would be just to pull out your far bigger, better weapon and show him what all he doesn't know! Instead of having to sit there like a wienie filing abuse reports.

Even I would do it if it were allowed. (I was fondly thinking of my C2 bombs at the time.)

coco-

pulling out a gun may be more satisfying, but your story was wayyy more fun to read. great response.

my favorite: a greefer in a sandbox, apparently pretty new to it (surprise surprise).
he started so i sat. he didn't know what to do, he tried running over me etc etc, meanwhile i typed we shall overcome, he ain't heavy, and various other protest favs. what i wouldn't have given for a nice hippy avi, some sound clips, protest signs, and some folks to come do it with me. finally, he sat too, so i said yay peace and love win the day. then i ARed his silly butt and asked travis for an fast TP outta there.

instead of the usual stress i laughed myself silly 8D
