Indeed Linden Labs do seem to be slipping

Second Life was great, virtual sandbox that all can enjoy, the many spaces allowed to build for non land owners and the antigreifing team were on top of their game, yet linden labs have created a exploit that is being used for and against peeps

Freebie accounts without need for ID

Yes freebie accounts have been argued (OMG hundreds of teh same peeps exploiting chairs/traffic (now cured by linden labs?), and the no ID part has been argued too (wait, they can greif me, get banned and return to greif me more? WTF?) but theres also a different side..

Being banned without proof or reason

Ive been banned on my main account (Kornation Bommerang) and subsequantly my alts on the same card and my IP address is no longer allowed in SL, this caused by someone turning to SL and claiming me to be underage. As i only work 3 days a week due to illness i earn little and spend (spent?) a lot of time in SL, enjoying my social network made inworld and using the money i made inworld to buy land etc.

I havent been on a foreign holiday since i was 16 (my 5year passport has ran out) and not able to drive, meaning i dont own a passport or driving license. I probably can get a birth certificate but that has to be gotten from the registary office in the district you was born in, and i live a fair distance away from there, and you still have to pay for it.

While origionally i laughed it off and asked 'what do i do now?' to linden labs, via the email address they gave to me, heres what i got...

No reply

1 week later, resend just incase

Replied by a blank message from Micheal Linden, responded yes, but with no info

2 weeks later, email No 3

No reply, my 'No ID' alt now unusable due to IP being banned, also rendering my brother unable to use his second life accounts (He moved in after loosing his flat)

4 weeks later - resend email with all other emails attached and the email sent from micheal

no reply

'why not phone?' you ask - i suffer from a fear of telephones (telephnophobia), i can just about use mobiles to text and thats about it, using the phone physically makes me sick, ive included this info in the emails.

'prove to them your over 18 then!' - already did when i opened the account using my bank card, also using the card to buy teirage (before i got ill), i could also provide pay slips, bank documents, etc and have written in the emails that this can be done

'hang on that makes you now...' 23, suffering from arthritic pains, muscle spasms and occasional sudden sleep/blackouts (caused by hormonal disorder/s - still having tests to see why and what can be done about it)

This has lost me my pride and joy of being able to meet people, be creative and have fun in the precence of freinds, even if they live in america (Stillpink Sandgrain, Tea Gupte, Ladybunny, Catnip, the entire PA group etc) or Canada (Clinton Oddfellow, hey i add to add him somehow) they are still freinds, if i wasnt ill ive woulda walked away from this by now, but this ment a lot to me - being able to participate in the relay for lifes and being present at the yearly 'SL Birthdays' made it more fun - even being able to speak to Lindens about bugs in the preview grids (even getting to tell Phillip Linden about a teleporting bug in one yonks ago). This has also left me unable to continue in my dutys for Ginko Technology and finish helping out the rebuild of North Paris (the colloseum and casino i built there were being packed away and i am needed to open mods on certain parts to finish the packing)

i just want to be able to meet my freinds, and finish my projects i had inworld - If this is read by a linden - please reply to the emails ive sent and tell me how i can get back in sl

just to add that this account is my brothers, bought on his card back in the ID needed days, as mine was, his birthdate is 26/3/84 and mine is 22/2/83 just for comfirmation

hey buddy, i also own land in Kkotsam and often see you or your brohter hanging round. If your still getting charged for tier payment youll be allowed back in. sometimes LL get a lil suspicious of alts and ban ppl for investigation time...good luck getting you account back buddy!

indeed funny Lost, and that does happen, but i bought this account with my bank card in the 'need ID' days, and am willing to provide antything they can ask for for ID, as long as i can afford it and get my hands on it

this include:
bank statements
payslips
prescription slips
other medical documents

and would provide a photo of me with said documents if needbe, oh i have found a photocopy of my birth certificate aswell, but UK birth certificates have a disclaimer at the bottom saying 'not to be used for ID' - i can still provide this with the other documents - the problem is linden labs havent replied saying which ones i can/cant use, plus i now have to get to my mothers house to use her scanner to put them in

i think ill just scan em all and send the bleeding lot, let them sift throu it insted of waiting for a reply

Your story has too many freaking holes. Just install skype and call the Linden number, it's a free phone call anyways.

And no your birth certificate would work. You can also get a notary to sign a document saying you are of age, this can be done by him personally examining you, and your birth certificate and anything else.

Just don't give this bs that someone living in UK has no way to ID their age.

please read above - i do have ways - linden labs have said in their first email to me that passport, Driving license and birth certificate could be used (i will send the Birth certificate when i get chance), they said if there is any problems reply via [email]support@lindenlabs.com[/email] (or simular - it was in the email and now saved in my address book), i did reply and i asked them if it was possible to use other forms of ID as (untill i found the Birth certificate photocopy) i did not have these.

they didnt reply - 4 times

if you want you can start taking the mickey out of my phobia, go on, dont be scared - damn even when my brother got drunk and slashed his arm by accident i couldnt ring 999 and had to text my freind to phone for me, i may do as you said about skype and try that - see if i dont go into a panic attack ( i have managed to do Ventrillo with fellow SL peeps with various results)

i wasnt sent nor asked if i wanted to enter teen grid (which i dont want to!), im sorta glad they didnt send me cause then they would have shown a loophole in their 'no over 17s' teen grid selling point (and indeed, if there was a pervert to use this loophole, possible lawsuits)

Hey Craig, the empty e-mail thing from support happens sometimes with yahoo. You might want to click download as text in yahoo. I've had this happen to me.

And since your brother also got blocked, can't he call for you? I mean there are ways.

Yeah, I'm aware of this phobia, but people with it use TS/vent/skype just fine. Go figure...

What about your brother cant he get ID? seems strange you both cant get ID if so..

my brother has ID and has his own accounts (im using it now to reply since mine are banned), his accounts are still open and available to use - the problem now is that we've been IP banned - we both cannot use SL even thou he hasnt been banned, i have asked them in the last email how to remedy this, but yet again.....

hehe dont worry - most peeps get confused over this, my phobia is telephones - physically dialing the number and trying to have a two way conversation is virtually impossible, there have been situations where i needed to contact someone in a emergancy and still couldnt pick up the phone

techophobia and telephophobia are not one and the same, even a classic phone is rendered useless to me - and as mentioned i can get away with texting just about - the only phone in this house is in my brothers room for his use only - luckly i have various fast food outlets near me that know me and allow me to text them my order

This may have no bearing on the issue, but I think the support email address I see most is [email]support@secondlife.com[/email] instead of [email]support@lindenlab.com[/email].

I think you'd get a faster reponse if you post the whole first post as an answers question in SL Answers.

I for one would like to know what LL would do against people who falsely reported people.

I believe you are saying the truth btw.

And yeah Skype helps with this, you can call US and Canadian numbers free with it, all you need to do is put +1... and number, dont put the "-"'s.

Also note it's the weekend, LL has hours during weekdays, as given on their support site.

I hope you sort it out Craig. I understand how difficult things that seem normal for others can be.

I have a phobia too. Pedophobia...fear of children. And Ephebiphobia which is fear of teenagers.

This is certainly a hard matter... They'd probably call Law enforcements if you entered the Teen Grid when, infact, they're saying you belong there.

And then there's the fact that my son can't actually play SecondLife because you can't use an Australian mobile device to register and I certain am not putting my credit card in there xD;

But yeah, They're basically saying you're a Teenager so you belong in the Teen Grid, yet if you signed up they'd soon have you for breaking the law.

Sadly this guy is not a content creator, thus he would not get the same treatment, the other person who was banned much after him got.

Sadly there exists 2 classes of resi. People like this guy would remain banned.

If they ever do that to me, I'm NOT giving them any information. I do not feel comfortable giving my personaly identifiable info to a complete stranger. For all I know LL could sell it to identity theives.

Torley just responded to the answers question, so hopefully this guy would be able to come back to SL.

What should I do if I get the age verification email? (I am not allowed to send any personal information to ANYONE over the internet, like birth certificates ect.) I'm 22 btw. I don't want some person to steal all the information I send to LL, so if I get the age verification email, I'm pretty much screwed.
