Guys! Gals! Dorks (bub)

I know you are getting bashed from left, right and centre about OMFG 1.7.x IS TEH SUCKZORZ, so, I just wanted to take this time to say THANK YOU!

Thank you for even BRINGING SL to us, its not smooth running, I am having issues with rezzing and textures and hell, other stuff as much as anybody else, and yeah, I pay top whack for tier too before you all jump on me and say BUT WE PAY TO PLAY.

Yes we DO pay to play, we CHOOSE to pay to play, LL are trying to make things better, sure they are having some pretty huge hiccups along the way but THAT IS THE WAY IT WORKS, its often two steps backwards to one forwards, and lets face it, multiple select is giving us all screaming orgasms. Really, if I hated it that much i'd drop to basic and log on once in a while til it was fixed, I wouldn't keep on and on and ON about leaving and going on about how crap it is in some ridiculous hope that they are gunna listen to me and do what I want.

Instead of bashing and demanding and moaning and bitching and screaming and posting 50 billion OMFG I HATE YOU threads, why don't we all just try and ride things out quietly, helping where we can?

I understand that alot of ppl are so so negatively affected by this update and I feel for you, I really do, I felt like that the first night when I couldn't rez a single texture for like 5 hours, but really they are NOT going to roll back, they are NOT going to give you any kind of refund cos the game is "unplayable", so please, just say thanks for what you have.

Anyways, thanks LL, I am SO glad I don't fit into any of your shoesies! You are all more patient and polite than I.

Never understood the Linden love in threads myself. They are a company I pay money to for a service, like my phone company, internet provider, or satellite tv. They're not friends, I don't know them, they're just a service company. So, in the same way I'd not be happy with my telephone company if the telephone service was poor, or the water company if we had problems with supply (this happens an awful lot where we live) I'll complain about SL when it doesn't work properly.

Some people here have a relationship towards LL, that goes past a service company relationship, and they afford LL an awful lot of slack I just can't see myself. But then I guess it's down to how you think about them. They're a service company to me. And that's how I relate to them.

I'm just saying I don't ring up any company and scream at them to get what I want, I take the time to be polite and talk things through with them, YES I get frustrated, my point is, wtf is the point of all the OMFG IT SUCKS threads? SRSLY? Is it helping, you bet your life its NOT. So instead of bashing them, like the popular concensus is, I thought that some words of encouragement might be a nice refreshing change I am not saying you can't whine, course you can, till you are blue in the face, won't do you no good, anyone that doesn't like that, doesn't have to post here.

Then why were your feathers ruffled by my post? I did not say I talked to 78000. I said there were 78000 people in SL (Signed up that is) and 69 people is not a majority.

But then if their service was as dire as LL's, I wouldn't pay for their products either! (admittedly even if you don't feel that LL deserve your cash, you can still (attempt to) use the service anyway, which I guess is fairly unique in a service provider).

I'm not bashing you, I'm saying that I don't see my customer => LL relationship in the same way. Certainly didn't mean to bash you, and I don't think I did either :confused:

Well, now here's the thing. The longer problems go on, the more likely that the frustration builds and the more likely you are to become terse and obnoxious. And when lots of the people you're communicating with directly (which is different to when your telephone service, water etc. goes down as you're kind of isolated in your frustration) are also feeling that frustration, things come to boiling point (and pitch forks) quicker. That's what happens here. That's why you see a lot more harsh posts about it - people feed of one another's frustrations.

Probably, as I know I've never once had the urge to launch myself at your cable guy when he comes to fix your stuff.

However, once I started feeding my cable guy a cookie and a cold cola when he comes to fix my stuff, I've noted I get far shorter waiting times than my neighbors when I do call for service.

Yeah, this is where I'm caught in a quandry really. Should I continue to pay for this dire service or not. I do, simply because I hope it will get better and I don't want to just give up on it yet. I'm not particularly happy about paying full wack for something that's not fully working, and haven't been for quite a while, but I'm being optimistic to a level I'm not usually.

Plus, I do actually like what you can do in SL when it works. Where I live we can only get BT phone lines. Have problems, you're kinda stuffed, because they're your only option. SL feels like that for me. Now, if there was decent competition then that argument would be completely blown away, and I wonder how many other people would feel that way too?

I think the difference is that you see cable/power/etc companies as huge companies doing their bidding for "the man", while you see LL as "the little guy".

Absolutely. I know tons of people who say "if we could find something like Second Life but that, like, works... wow!". They'd move in a second, as would I. I don't feel any loyalty to LL. As you say, it's the only option at the moment.

Well y'know.. when I pay for a phone I expect it to work. Its, what, say 70 year old technology? So yeah I figure it probably ought to be perfected by now.

When the network goes down, I know shit happens and I might bitch, but I know people are trying to fix it. Its only 12 year old technology and we are still getting the kinks worked out of it.

(heh heh heh she said kink)

SL is technology that is what.. 2 years old? And its up and running and pretty stable most of the time with the obvious problems that any game has. I mean come on.. you think they WANTED 1.7 to be the suck that it was? Its not like they did this to you on purpose. But most folks just come here and bash them and say how bad and wrong LL is for implementing it in the first place. So if Willow wants to give them a shout out for doing a job that is HARD, I think its kind of cool. Much more valid, I'd say, than whining about how we should all go back to 1.6.
