From: Selador Cellardoor No, LL don't win. They will be removing something which fosters a sense of community, and which did attract new residents of the more creative sort. Nobody wins. Yep. I have to second Mr. Cellardoor's contention that LL most certainly did not win. In fact, I think the argument could be made they are the biggest loser--junking the forums, rather than doing a tune-up and some body work, is perhaps not the best decision from a long-term business standpoint The rest of us losers, on the other hand--what's the worst we've come away with from this experience? Well, yes there was the point where in reading a thread about midget alien bondage sims--or something very much like that--my eyeballs climbed up inside my head and tried to strangle my brain to put it out of its misery. And yes, some forum posters were left huddled in the fetal position hugging an old Harlan Ellison paperback after they had been served up with the traditional bile smoothie that is the house specialty here. But by comparison, I would say yes, LL still wins at being the biggest loser.

From: April Firefly I won because I rose above the pettiness and no matter what happened, I never resorted to nastiness.
If only others, who shall remain nameless, had followed my lead. The forums would not be closed. Eh, I think maybe that came across a bit holier-than-thou, but in essence, I agree. Anyone who at least made a real effort to treat everyone else here with respect won. That said, we're all human and prone to failure, but the effort counts for a lot.

We're losing the forums because Philo opened up the Tao and it told him to because he didn't want to read anymore.

Thanks for proving my point. From: Vares Solvang I'm sorry April. Will you please forgive me? I forgive you. Will you forgive me? (Bonus points if you can name the movie that came from.) From: Lorelei Patel Eh, I think maybe that came across a bit holier-than-thou, but in essence, I agree. Anyone who at least made a real effort to treat everyone else here with respect won. That said, we're all human and prone to failure, but the effort counts for a lot. It was holier than thou with a little tongue in cheek. Thank you for understanding my point though.

From: Joshua Nightshade We're not why the forums are going. At least not because we're all nasty fuckwits. We're losing the forums because Philo opened up the Tao and it told him to because he didn't want to read anymore. I'd agree that it's not one reason, but more like a bunch of factors that came together to make it a smarter move (in their opinion, anyhow) to close them. Factors include: - Too much effort to police -- adding resmods didn't work
- Source of too much drama
- Resources better spent elsewhere
- Doesn't convey a good "brand message"
- etcetera, etcetera, etcetera

From: Ewan Took The real winners are the scores of cowardly unidentified alts lining up for personal attacks on people they are shit scared to face under their real names. YAY for the ALTS. Over and out. Twat.
