From: David Valentino Humans are sexual animals, and that is a good thing for obvious reasons. Any time you gather a large number of humans in one area (or even a small number), you are going to have sexual situations, pixelated or not.
Anyone suprised by this must have lived an incredibly repressed or secluded life.
Sex is all around us, every day, in RL, in games, in books, in movies, on TV. The fact that folks still look down on it, or act as though it's unnatural or bad is really pathetic and sad.
I think that Second Life is an ideal place to act out fantasies that would otherwise be either to hard to do in RL, or for those that are currently without lovers in RL, or even just for those curious about various scenerios.
If it is concensual and all parties involved enjoy themselves, then it is a good thing. As for payment being involved, that's the business of those involved and no one else. We all pay for our relationships in one way or another. Whether it be through time and attention, room and board, gifts and gratiuties, compromise and hard work, etc...
I think that escorts, prostitues, whores or whatever you call them, have always had a place in human society and always will. It is very obviously a needed service and will continue to be one, no matter how repressive a society becomes. History speaks volumes on this subject. yes yes god forbid anyone should have a moral code. bastards should be shot! Well david not everyone loves it shoved in their faces. I have noticed that americans take issue with this mostly. Other countries have more of a "who cares" attitude. They don't make the subject an issue, nor do they push their beliefs on others. I dig ppl like that. Yuppers first thing I thought was "yippie, more whores" and I wasn't talking just about the women.

From: Marla Truss Not only play, but I'm a builder and even just released a book in Second Life. And it is a good book, too. Marla's written a great guide to sex in SL for new players. I wish I could hand a copy to all the newbies

Escorts are entertainers too

I hired an Escort to be a stripper at a friends brithday party. Not only was she sexy, but she was funny as hell, witty, had everyone relaxed, and a good time was had by all. Worth the 1,500 L - Hell Yes!!!

I dig ppl like that. Yuppers first thing I thought was "yippie, more whores" and I wasn't talking just about the women. As far as I'm concerned, everyone SHOULD have a moral code. I certainly do. But everyone isn't going to have the same moral code. I can live by mine, and you can live by yours. As far as someone shoving something in your face, I've been in SL for over two years, and I've never had anything shoved in my face. If I don't want to see pixelated nudity, it's easily avoided. If I don't want to hire an escort, I make the choice not to hire one. If I don't want to have avatar sex, I don't have it. Seems to me, your biggest beef is that not everyone lives by your moral code. Can you explain how escorts in SL are infringing on you, or keeping you from doing the activities you enjoy in SL, or in anyway harming you are making you not able to live and believe as you wish? I find other forms of commercialism within SL far more offensive (and I know from the past that you do as well). But again, I can't complain too much, because I can still do what I want in SL. At least escorts, prostitution and the like are fairly "social" activities.

I have always wondered why everyone in SL uses the term “escort” like that somehow makes it more socially acceptable. Why don't we just call them what they are: prostitutes; hookers; sleazy whores. I am amazed that people who would never dream of having sex for money in rl don't even bat at eyelash at doing it in sl.
It always makes me smile when someone tells me they are an escort and then gets all indignant when I refer to them as a hooker. If you choose to be a whore, don't get upset when someone calls you a whore.

If you choose to be a whore, don't get upset when someone calls you a whore. What is your desire and motive in imposing a term like 'sleazy whore' on me? If one term is as good as another, why is not escort or courtesan (a term I use) not equally as acceptable? Why do I use labels like courtesan or escort? Because those words clearly describe my profession to others, while terms like 'sleazy whore' I find to be highly inaccurate. It is interesting that you somehow think that I have no right to describe my own profession using neutral labels, yet you do have a right to use degrading labels. What's more surprising is your insistence that everyone else must also debase themselves to your using your labels. Consider this, you are just judged by your own words. If you insist on using language to degrade other human beings, how do you think others will judge you? Marla
