Yes, this is a rant. I ask for the THs for people, because they get the run around from the Lindens when they asked, as did I. I finally get ahold of them, and made the available to public, then I get a warning!? Here's the deal: You all know that bug that makes free-to-copy items not free to copy? Well, I put the THs for sale for $1 in the sandboxes, then a Linden IMs me and tells me not to do that, so I tell them there's a bug with the free to copy. They then tell me to set it to $0, which I did not know worked. So I do. Today, I get a warning for advertising in a public space? Oh, excuse me for trying to make items publicly available, and it's not my fault your bugs inhibit certian features. Ontop of this, I did not plan to make money from it, I put them out for one day, which I also included a sensor that gives the items to people who come within 10m, so they didn't even have to buy them. Hell, I didn't even make $10, and if they really want, I'll pay every Linden $100. I'll quote from a thread I posted earlier today: From: me They claim it is, but do not act on it. An... er... the very well known land baroness let her friend use her account once, I even talked to her while she was doing it, then contacted a Linden. The Linden said that it was there because if someone had items stolen, then LL would not be responsible for paying them back.
I guess it's sort of like, if I exploit a script and get items free from JEVN, and then give the items back, I get punished. But if someone exploits a scripts and steals about 20k from me, nothing happens to them. Also how some people are allowed to post mature links, then a Linden claims it's mature content, and removes the link. Then another poster posts one, and a Linden claims that since it is not up when you view the thread, it is allowed. Also if someone posts a meet-up thread (SLCC) in the general, it does not get moved because they are "higher status?" *sighs*
Too all the Lindens and people at Linden Lab: I'm sorry for trying to do somethinig good, even though your bugs get in the way. LL, if competiton comes, I (who pays over $600 in tier a month) will be leaving.

From: Garnet Psaltery What's a TH? Telehub. People have been wanting them, but not able to get ahold of them. So I finally get one after asking Ryan multiple times for over 3 weeks, which Torley (thank you) helps me get a copy of them. Then... well, read above.

Don't sweat it Nimrod. If you need a place to distribute free TH's I am sure plenty here would gladly donate a spot. Hell, put them in a 1 prim vendor and I'll let you set them up at 10 spots. See if you can get them at Yadni's or other freebie places. Distributing stuff like that in the sandboxes has always been frowned upon.

You can't put things for sale in public spaces. The reasons for this are very obvious.
The idea of having every liason knowing about the special case for person X who bugged a bunch of lindes for item Y and thinks therefore that gives him the right to be a special case, is well, .....
I'll let you figure it out.

well, I think I may have avoided the sensor, but ya, that's a pretty dumb warning. Remind me again why warnings are anonymous?
edit: while posting this a post got in ahead of time supporting the warning.
In reply to that, 0L is not for sale. This is not his item, it's a linden freebee. Every linden doesn't have to know about the special case, re: above.

I'll let you figure it out. Even discarding my warning, why are the rules so widely interepreted by different Lindens? The TOS/CS should be a little more precise than "No mature content in the forums." Now it's the case that you hope Y Linden doesn't get to it before X Linden. If Y Linden gets to it first, it will be locked/edited.

I've a reason for asking... No porblem Phedre. You can see what they look like if you go here: http://slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=86425They are what you used to Teleport to before p2p (point to point?) came to SL. You used to have to fly a few hundred meters to the Landmark instead of appearing directly there.

Well, if you want to distribute through my store, feel free - Put a box on a free wall.
It's Confabulations and Curiosities at Port Caledon.

The few hundred was if you were lucky! Still, it's always been a bug about being unable to set something to 0L to give it away. Anyone ever tracked what kind of items/perms such were on it to keep it from doing this?
Ouch, Nimrod, that does bite about getting the warning over a stupid bug that has been around for a while!

Dude yeah I agree man this secondlife is lame I went to basic because of the performance issues not because my computer as it is *BRAND NEW!* but because of thier performance. I owned a half of a sim, suckered into joining live help I left because idiots caused way too much grief and drama and im still getting those stupid [Live-Help] emails ...hey Nimrod why dont we make our own game im sure beyond a shadow of a doubt we could out perform this place. And actually make something the public would like.

We'll bang on it more and if it's good, it's shipped! Usually the release candidate is put out to public preview and we watch for bugs. Essentially, its the version we believe doesn't have any showstopping or critical bugs (bugs which either make Second Life unusable for our Residents* or bugs that make it really hard to use SL). *yeah, I know I probably opened myself up to flaming right there! Any questions ?

From: Devlin Gallant Ther point is he was selling in the SANDBOX, a PUBLIC space/linden owned area. THAT is the no no. What a bunch of nimrods! Well, at least one. Yes, SELLING, is correct. But I was only *selling* because of the bugs in their system. They except us to use them even though they don't work, and not try to make a second option for people? I set it for free to copy, and even the hover text on the boxes were "Right click-> More-> Take copy." If people wanted to still buy it for less than 1 US cent, then they were free to. Robin even said in her post, that they evaluate each incident on it's own. Some needs special consideration. So, I'm told to distribute this item, yet, when I do, I get punished?

I wander how the lindens would react if you used touch giver scripts. o.o list gInventoryList; list getInventoryList() { integer i; integer n = llGetInventoryNumber(INVENTORY_ALL); list result = []; for( i = 0; i < n; i++ ) { result += [ llGetInventoryName(INVENTORY_ALL, i) ]; } return result; }
default { state_entry() { gInventoryList = getInventoryList(); } touch_start( integer n ) { integer i; for( i = 0; i < n; i++ ) { llGiveInventoryList(llDetectedKey(i), llGetObjectName(), gInventoryList ); } } changed( integer change ) { if ( change == CHANGED_INVENTORY ) gInventoryList = getInventoryList(); } }

Good Job Lindens
08-07-2006 22:32
Yet another sad case of "blame it on the Lindens". You read the TOS before you logged in. You either like it or you don't. If you don't, then log out and spare us the pain of another whiner!
oh and...
[nimrod]"Ontop of this, I did not plan to make money from it, I put them out for one day, which I also included a sensor that gives the items to people who come within 10m"
Fly by sensor spamming (IMHO) are reason enough to get a ticking off from a Linden. Good Job Lindens!
