I have noticed this rocking tendency. I think Valdora may be worried about it. Too much cappuccino! 'Too much cappuccino'? What is this blasphemy that assaults my senses? _____________________

It figures...

the day I go off-world to secure some parts for the espresso machine, the Lindens decide to fool around with The Grid and fry my portal. I made the crossover to Seattle fine yesterday and managed to track down the mechanism I needed for our java jalopy at a restaurant supply outfit on 1st Avenue South. I might need Marcos Fonzarelli's help with adjusting the steam component of it for our needs.
When I tried to initiate my portal in Seattle this morning some sort of feedback came through the connection and shorted out my equipment... wish Grandma Thetan was here. She'd have this figured out in two shakes of a hippo's tail. I read the notice that the Lindens' new update had an incompatability with Mac OS X 10.3.9. Wouldn't you know, I haven't upgraded my software past that yet! I'm going to try and fix my shorted out components and hope that the Lindens can fix the bug on their end by the end of this week. If that fails, I'll try to spring for the new OS and make another crossover attempt in a week or so. Good luck to everyone. I hope things are going well for all inworld. |

very good job sal. well done. I agree. Good job. There are far too few trees in SL. They really dress up a property when used. _____________________

Salazar:
We have not met yet - But I think we should. After reading this fascinating thread, I decided to don my trusty boots and trenchcoat, and explore the forest and the artifacts within. First off, it is a lovely place, and the constructs within both fascinate and compel me. With some difficulty I located the cave entrance in Stinson, and did a bit of poking about. Well, the portal upgrade to 1.10 has had an immediate bonus, as I was able to bring a rather powerful maglite with me. Here I am in the cave: ![]() The area of interest is just above the small pool of water, and to the right. I took a picture of it, and tried as best as I could to clean it up. Take a close look at what is inside the yellow box I drew on the image... ![]() One task the human mind does very well is pattern recognition... What I perceive within that box are five very badly worn down letters that were carved here in relief. I recalled from your earlier post about the use of the odd symbology of the ancient Di-ingue Baughts tribe, and tracked down Magellan Linden's key document. The first two letters are two worn for me to make heads or tails of - I wish I had better image processing software (perhaps the scanner at the ARMORD lab might be employed here). But to my eyes the last three are barely legible, and I am guessing they are the lower or common forms for the three letters "kem", which would make the inscription in whole be : ??kem Now, there is NO five letter word in english that ends in "kem" - In fact other than a rare surname, and a product name, there are NO words of any length that end in "kem". Kem is the name of a town & river in the Karelia region of Eastern Russia. What bearing that may have is unknown. This of course leaves a number of possibilties:
I think further examination of this rock needs doing. Perhaps with higher resolution pohotgraphy, and better image prcessing more might be revealed. Another tack might to be to take a person with sensitive fingertips in and have them touch the area, and see if they can "feel" anything that might be more letters, or at least give better shape to the ones we have. Please contact me in world for further converse, and to tell me how I can help support the trust. Best Regards, Daaneth Kivioq _____________________

Moving on...

Good G'al!
I can't believe it's taken me three months to respond to your post here. My apologies. As you know, we've met up inworld since your post was made and done some additional research in the small cave located in Stinson. I wanted to put some thoughts down before this thread gets closed, along with many other threads, as the Lindens' start shutting down portions of the Second Life Forums. I'll be continuing to document the discoveries made in the Forest of Kahruvel at my new web site. The photos you originally linked in your post aren't loading now. Fortunately I got a good look at them the first time and know exactly what area of the cave wall you are referring to there. It also helped for you to show me in person of course. ![]() The wall you are speaking of does seem to have had something engraved in it at one time. But whatever that was has, unfortunately, worn down considerably. You can just barely feel the impression now when you run your hand over it. I will take some high resolution photos of the wall face and see if I can do some additional enhancement of the image. ![]() It's interesting to note that wall is mostly made up of volcanic ash deposits as opposed to the stone structures at the back of the cave that were quarried from a different type of material entirely. I don't think the volcanic deposits are anywhere near as old as the stones in back. When Champie Jack and I first found that cave, in May of 2005, we thought that it had been undisturbed for thousands of years. Recent findings seem to indicate that cavern may have been excavated much more recently and the roof of it collapsed -- most likely as a result off the Erase itself. The wall with your faint markings on it may have been exposed directly to those chaotic forces and been worn down at an accelerated rate. I will see if I can get Marcos of ARMORD Lab to help me set up some equipment on-site to analyze the wall more thoroughly. I will take your speculations to heart, but will withhold any conclusions until we've looked at the situation more in-depth. ![]() Thank you so much for your input and for meeting with me inworld. I'm excited about the possibilities and look forward to learning more about the significance of that cave. Please be sure to follow along and contribute to the research going on at the new web site for the Forest of Kahruvel or inworld at the Cowell village just south of the forest. (I have also reserved the domain name (kahruvel.com) as a precaution for any future possible web site expansion.) Onward and Upward! Salazar |
