I've had to keep a lid on this news item for quite a while, and it's been tough, because it's really exciting news! The people who really deserve the credit for making this happen are Rivers Run Red, and Fizik Baskerville in particular; they've been working on making this happen for some time now.

So. Damn. Cool. I hope I age as well as Nick Rhodes!

Regards,

-Flip

This has the potential to be amazing... although I fear that the more of these 'big name events' there are, the greater attraction to griefers.

I just hope that, being a British band, they'll remember their British fans and do it at a euro friendly time.

Hopefully it'll be as good as their concert I went to a couple of years ago.

*envisions Nick Rhodes getting hit by a watermelon gun, and covered with all that sticky juice*

:p Y'know, maybe griefing isn't as bad of an issue as we make it out to be....

*slips melon gun into her multigadget....*

I wonder if they know that only about 60-80 ppl can enjoy their concert, before the sim lags to hell :(

If SL wants to have more mass attendance, pop events, it needs to really start coding away, to make it possible!

time to make pastel shirts, pedal pusheres and stockpile teal and white slingbacks. This will have all the tracys and sharons crawling out of the woodwork.

I remember the Nick Rhodes Gallery fondly, in Tan and then later in Mavericks. Great SL photography before we had all the nifty custom stuff.

I had to email that article to a couple friends who were huge DD fans back in the 80s, and still are. Just to get them to stop snickering at my little 'video game.' :D

I would be so looking foreward to this. ^.^ A Life performance in SL! However i know from experiance that any large attraction in SL will bring in a share of griefers. So i suggest having a few lindens and bouncers around, restricting push, having auto return for 1 minute, and disabling rezzing. I would also suggest this being on a island sim with 1 simwide parcel. Lindens and estate owners can detect whats being done this way and prevent crashes caused by griefing.

Yes i'm the expert lol. :)

it would also meen that duran duran will be able to walk around freely without having to sit down to perform. :) Not even god is safe from orbiting. It would just send him back to heaven though.

Who is Duran Duran? Now if the Chieftains were coming to Second Life I might get interested. :)

The Chieftains had an album of St. Patrick's Day music that Sting helped them with a few years ago. It was good. ;)

Seriously, what's all this talk about Nick Rhodes when there's John Taylor to talk about!? My, my, my.

This is very interesting news. While it might be a tad excessive, it may be useful to stick to basic human avs on the island sim where the band is playing to keep prim-heavy avs (such as my own) from adding to the load. I'd be willing to abide by such a rule if it helps things run smoothly.

On the other hand, if the Lindens can keep down the load from other sources (like scripts), then Duran Duran may have one of the most unusual audiences they've ever seen. :D

I don't know... some of the fashions from the 80's when they were first famous was a bit odd...

Then there was the hair.
