The group is very nearly two years old. Unfortunately, it has been dormant for the last year. As Bino Arbuckle pointed out, pretty much no one goes to Gray to visit the station.

I propose that we scale back the build dramatically:
  1. Kazenojin Mountain - that is, the Eiffel structure and sky cable - will stay
  2. If there are enough prims to support it, we will allow Kazenojin to sell vehicles there
  3. The power generator may be deleted to save prims, depending on how things work out
  4. Structures in the air over Kazenojin Mountain (other than the sky cable) will probably have to go in order to conserve prims as well
  5. The land under the airstrip, airport, and hangars will be taken over by land donors or sold to others; whoever gets these parcels may elect to maintain the existing structures, or nuke-and-pave the land and use it for whatever new thing they may want; keeping the land in the Kazenojin group is OK but not required
  6. The two Kazenojin Valley plots that have been parceled out at the south of the simulator will be sold
  7. Xylor Baysklef will decide whether he wants to keep the SLU building land (south side of Kazenojin Mountain)
  8. Huns Valen will decide whether he wants to keep the Ocean Vista land (west side of Kazenojin Mountain)
Those who have contributed land to the Kazenojin will get first dibs on land; they will take it over without paying anything to anyone. Those who are members, but not contributing land, will get to buy the land at a price per meter agreed on by the land donors. This will probably be less than the market rate. Any land that isn't sold in this way will be put up for sale to any comer.

Kazenojin Mountain and the Eiffel structure will remain as a perpetual monument to the group. There should be enough land donated by several inactive lifetime members, plus whatever other donations people care to make, to preserve this historic build indefinitely.

Please note that I have written down the names of all land donors as of right now. This poll is public, and I can tell who has voted for what. If you vote and you're not a Kazenojin member who is donating land, your vote will not count (but you are free to vote anyway to express your opinion.) The poll will close in 30 days, but we may act before then if we get a decisive vote early enough.

For reference, here are the land donors and non-donor members. Only the donor members' votes will count, since they are the ones who have put up their personal resources to keep Kazenojin alive.

Huns, I have just taken over a major project in Bonnydoon, and it raises me to the full-sim tier, even though I am only using just under 60,000m of that. There are a few absentee landowners and some lindend land that prevent me from actually owning the entire sim.

I would be happy to donate extra tier for the time being, but cannot say how long that I will be at this tier level. Once my project is put together, it will be a community neighborhood, and the members will be allowed to decide for themselves whether they prefer to donate their own tier or pay me a discounted tier rate. If the entire neighborhood votes to pay me tier fees directly, even if I charge them a discounted rate I may find myself operating slightly in the black, and able to indefinitely support the Kazenojin with my leftover meters.

For what this information is worth.

I'm glad, very glad, that the tower won't be going away. I bought land in Gray and put it back into group the last time this came up specifically to assist in preserving that monument, as it's one of my fondest builds in all of secondlife. I hope this all works out, and that there are some other members of the Kazenojin who feel similiarly.

Also, traffic in Gray may pick up a bit, now that Cubey's blimp tours have us on their route.

I'll watch the results of this poll with interest.

Considering I haven't been active in quite some time I can't claim I will have much sway, but I would like to keep as much of Kazenojin and the structures up as possible. I personally know that my full alotment of 4096 and that donated by Judge Leviathan are pretty much permament donations to Kazenojin.

I've subdivided a parcel for the main tower structure on the mountain. That leaves the runway area and parcels for structures built by myself and Xylor on the south and west sides of the property. I think our "permanent" donations will be enough to keep the tower area and possibly some of the runway stuff.

We definitely appreciate people who can come in and donate land allocation, but the problem is that these donations tend to reduce or vanish over time. I'm taking this step because I want to move Kazenojin to a sustainable model where we don't have to worry about fluctuations in the amount of land donated. That means that we have to:
  1. Figure out how much we can preserve given the "permanent" donations and whatever other allocation we're likely to be able to keep on a permanent basis, and
  2. Subdivide that amount of land radiating out from the center of Kazenojin Mountain, forming a permanent preserve for the Kazenojin project.
  3. Whatever land allocation we have left over can be used to hold the remaining land. Anything beyond that is offered first to land donors, then to non-donor admirals (in recognition for their contributions - many have donated significant land in the past), then to non-donor members, then finally sold off to any comer.
I think that if we do this, we'll be able to maintain a good chunk of the Kazenojin project indefinitely.

Looking at the number of objects supported by the mountain parcel, I think we will need to return a bunch of stuff that's hanging in the air above the Eiffel structure, and probably the power generator too. That might leave enough prims to let Kazenojin members use the top surface of the structure to sell vehicles.

I'll be coming in more often to assist with this since some of my objects are being returned to me.

Huns, thank you for taking the initiative here. I haven't been on forums in a while, but was hoping to post something to go along with my proposal of yesterday.

I can't say I didn't propose it out of selfishness, as I have been reevaluating my land allocations. But I won't say the group hasn't been quite stagnant either.

I'd be interested in keeping some allocation with the group, but lowering what I've allocated. At the moment I'll stay at the level I am at, but ideally I'd like to halve it.

Looking forward to further developments.

Not by anything I did, I hope! I have occasionally seen things get returned when land is reparcelled, but I didn't notice anything big.

I'm in favor of the general tenor of Hun's plan. Unfortunately, since the Kaz area was set up just about when "group tags" were created by LL, we didn't enforce a "tag and make group editable" rule for the land.

Nowadays, all sorts of parasitic stuff shows up there ... using up many prims. I go around and get admirals or Lindens to remove plywood cubes and smoking rockets all the time.

So I guess I'm voting "yes".

[I expect to run the Dogfights every month or two; I've been making a few more aircraft ... ]

I'm also considering chasing people down to get them to set their stuff to the group, then turning on autoreturn. It is the only way to cut down on that crap.

I've been getting a few items returned from the tower structure. I'm surprised that still seems to be a favorite, but I guess the things I cherish the most are the ones I didn't or couldn't have made myself. How are we dealing with some of the items that are likely irreplaceable? Like Kanker's radar tower, or Nergal's poem statue? Or the contributions to the solar system at the top of the elevator tether?

I'll be happy to come by and fix up the main structure if it needs it. Actually it might be kind of fun to make it look even more decrepit. :p

I would hug you for this.

[Y'know, entirely platonically and all.]

Ope Rand's land has become a sandbox for some folks and the clutter of vehicles is starting to build up. Until recently there was a large spaceship way up at 3000m but I noticed Monday morning that it had finally been removed. (Assumedly by a Linden)

Alright, we've got a simple majority of Aye votes, with zero Nay or Abstain votes. Now it's time to move to Phase II. Post what you're donating today and what you're willing to guarantee.

OK, I've delivered a notecard with the latest bulletin to everyone who was a Kazenojin member (as of two days ago, anyway.) The notecard points to this thread, so hopefully the whole group gets up to speed.

I've got 7092 donated; I'd like to keep it down at about 6500 in the future. Gotta railway to feed!

But for the forseeable future I will continue to donate 4096.
as for Judge Leviathan, I cannot speak for him, but I know that he has no plans to remove his contribution of land.
