State of play...

Righty - I don't know if I speak for anyone else in the group here, but I'd just like to know what the current state of play is regarding land allocations, whether the tower is likely to be rebuilt in the short-term future, and so on.
I've seen some fragments of IM, and had some notecards turn up talking about bits and pieces, but these have generally just caused questions internally.

Any chance of a quick heads-up on the group and Gray as a whole?

Ananda, who has been the de-facto leader of the Kazenojin group for most of the last year, has decided to step down from that role and also to tier down land-wise. She has indicated that she may tear down the tower, but I wouldn't like to see that happen unless someone else has an idea for something to build in its place. Ananda is one of the best architects in SL, and I think the current tower would be a tough act to follow, so I would like to see it stay (for the time being.)

We (the old-timers) noticed that there were several admirals who we hadn't promoted and didn't know anything about and who weren't contributing any land or other resources. Admiralty confers certain rights and responsibilities, and is not something that should be handed to people without consulting the other admirals. So, we have asked the newer admirals to either step up to the plate (with land contributions, or something else that offers significant value to the group) or step down as admirals. An example of "significant value" would be the Aerodrome folks, who are gracious enough to allow us to sell our aircraft at their place down in Abbots, and Garth & Pituca, who allow us to do the same at their anchor store in Luna.

As Ananda mentioned in her last bulletin, which I have pasted in this thread, the Kazenojin group and its builds in Gray have been unusually stable and constant. The norm in this world is for everything to change over time, for "old" things to be ploughed under and rebuilt as new things. Well, I like Gray, and I don't want to see it go away any time soon. This would not have been possible without generous land contributions, and we are thankful that we have been fortunate enough to attract and retain as much as we have.

I for one hope the tower stays ... the various layers up above may come and go, though. Members should also remember we have a nice little store down near the grass field ... good for selling anything vaguely Kaz-related (or at least not Kaz-opposed).

There's a corner of Gray that we never bought up ... that may have been a boo-boo. I've pitched in a fair amount of land tier ... let's keep an eye out on any Gray bits that come up.

I agree that the tower should stay. If it ever did come down I would help in any way I could to rebuild another one but I wouldn't even be able to come close to what Ananda has done.

To clarify my note to everyone, I have no intention of tearing anything down that people want to keep. What I am basically saying in that letter is that I recognize the need for me to "lead, follow, or get out of the way". Since I'm not around enough to be a good leader, I'm getting out of the way. Part of that is my offer to clear out the current construction and make room for someone else to have a go at it.

It's part of my philosophical viewpoint as a creator - the creating of the thing was by far the biggest joy for me. I want others to get that opportunity too. Having the station there is part of the creator's dilemma. I refer to it as the "rubble" problem. You get busy making something huge like this, enlist all kinds of help to get it done, and pretty soon something fantastic has taken shape. But then you have to deal with the consequences of having it!
:p

It's like it's a past project sitting there turning into rubble. All the original creators have moved on to other things, but it still sits there, collecting dust (or in this case plywood cubes). And until I get over the having of it, it's hard to see my way clear to making something new.

Um, anyway all this mumble is me saying, "Hey guys, I got kinda bored with what we had done already. Anybody got an idea what we should do next?" ;)
