Hello I am very good at using max but not much using wings , but I discovered that wings has a more precise sculptmap exporter compared to 3dsmax so I was using an import export inthe obj format to work between the two , but when I make a object forst in wings then export to obj , import in 3dsmax , rewortk and reexport in 3dsformat , then reimport in wings and try to save as sculptmap says unsupported mesh format , what this means and how can I avoit this so to make it work?
thanks for ur patience ....

Any particular reason you are exporting in 3ds format when you imported as obj? Use obj for the entire process. Your vertex index is reordered when you save as 3ds. The Wings 3d sculptie plug in is coded to translate a specific vertex index into a sculptie map, so if you perform any operations that mess with that order it's not going to work.
I am interested in your discovery that wings has a more precise exporter than Max. Which export scheme are you basing this on? How much more accurate are we talking here?
I've been using SculptGenMax since RC 1 and with lossless upload I have to say it's pretty accurate right down to the vertex level. If you are using one of the surface approximation schemes you will get less accurate results than the vertex based ones. That's true in general though.

Well with wings I can shrink down to precision the vertexes and collapsing them is easier , while with max is less precise , but the main thing is that when I save with wings the copy is identical and smooth ,m when I save with max is less smooth and more rggy surface sometimes , I can check this by importing in sculptpaint ...

Ahh, accurate as far as your modeling workflow. I gotcha.
Less smooth eh? Hmmm. So this means my guess that you probably don't have True Color turned off in render preferences, causing the issues you mentioned in the second part, probably wont matter then?
I can live with that.
If that's the case though, that's the cause of your inaccuracy issues, not the exporter.

But I am not using the baking method but the import exporter for 3dsmax....

Right. The issue still applies using SculptGenMax. http://liferain.com/downloads/sculptgenmax/faq/ Go down to #7 paragraph 3 I feel like I'm quoting scripture here.
