I'm trying to put border panels to block out an unsightly view. To get a 10x10 panel as close as possible to my border, have it geometrically textured and have it slightly see through. What should by minimum thickness? To see the texture from both sides, is there anything I should consider? BTW the geometric texture pattern is very sparse. thanks

Make a cube 10x10x10 Make it all transparent Make it .01 thick (as thin as possible) in one direction Texture the two remaining sides individually, and set the opacity until you have the screen effect you want.

I don't see how thickness will play any role in what you are trying to accomplish.

You should think about making it alpha on your neighbor's side, as well as phantom so people don't smack into it.

You only see the texture on the faces you are able to directly look at. The texture on the far side is not visible to you. Thickness does not matter, but you may as well make it 0.01 thick.
I have a 9-prim wall that on my side is a huge Oak tree, and the other side is either the tree or a 100% alpha texture. Makes a pleasant visual screen.

From: cutflower Oh Most appreciated Good time to learn about alpha channels I suppose. the alpha texture he is refering to is simply a texture that is totally clear, no image, if you will send me an IM in SL requesting it, I will send you a clear texture. You can also make any texture 90 clear (almost invisible) using the transparency settings in the texture edit window.

I would probably:
Use 20x20(x.5?) mega prim(s), make phantom, cut to .25/.75, put a 100% alpha texture on the outside (or set the faces to 0% alpha by script), put the texture you want on the inside face, adjust repeats/offset to fit (roughly 4 for one repeat horizontally).

The arbor project has a 60 meter 3 prim pine tree that can be used for screening purposes as well.
