Is it possible to Un-Link objects that are linked together? If so how do I do so?

I think ctrl-shift-L does the trick. It's in the Tools menu, right under Link.
If you want to remove one prim from a big link set, edit just the prim you want using Edit Linked Parts then do an unlink. If you want to unlink the entire set, edit the whole set (no Edit Linked Parts) then do an unlink..
I used to screw this up all the time. Might want to play with it a bit before trying it on something you care about.
