The first thing to try is simply to relog. That will usually clear up problems like this.
Beyond that, make sure your hardware meets or exceeds the minimum requirements, and that you've got the latest drivers for all your components, especially your video card, as well as the latest version of DirectX (assuming your on Windows).

It happens. Relogging should do the trick, as Chosen suggests. You might also try rebaking your avatar (Ctrl-Alt-R), although that's usually more appropriate if you're ending up with weird skin textures than if your avatar is missing parts.
