I'm new to the whole sculpty thing, and fairly familiar w/ 3d graphics software, but I just can't seem to wrap my head around how to make a sculpty texture. I have Blender as well as a few other open source programs, but every tutorial I've found doesn't seem to explain how to do it easily enough (probly just me getting old lol). Are there scripts or plugins for Blender that are useful? any short cuts? or maybe a tutorial for dummies? thanks

This one here is pretty easy to follow: http://amandalevitsky.googlepages.com/sculptedprims
I don't 100% agree that everything in it is the best way to go about it (like using a cylinder instead of a sphere, for example), but it works. If you've got a basic understanding of how to use Blender, you should be able to do everything in it.

Thanks Chosen, I've seen that one, and figured out what I was doing wrong. Now to see if I can tweak it so I can upload the model I want EDIT: hmm, seems that using a cube doesn't have the desired effect I want, guess I'll have to go with a cylinder or sphere....bleh!

So I tried experimenting with Talila Liu's tutorial, that's fine and dandy, unfortunately Talila doesn't go into detail in her tutorials, so it leaves you coming up short.
I tried a sculptie texture and wasted $10L having it screw up, being as there's a huge seam gap, and the end points aren't capped.
I would seriously donate to someone who would create a proper tutorial for doing sculpties in Maya.

From: Ironraptor Albion I tried a sculptie texture and wasted $10L having it screw up, being as there's a huge seam gap, and the end points aren't capped. Download the beta grid client and use the beta grid for testing purposes. They give you a few thousand Lindens to play around with on the beta grid so you can experiment without touching your actual L$ balance on the main grid.
