Do a search of the forums for offline builders. There is a general obj format importer that works but apparently generates a LOT of small prims which can cause lag in game. THere are also atleast 3 projects to bring prim design to a standalone 3D modler.

Thanks Wildthrust, for geting me started on this, never would have kow what to search for. by the looks of the in game editor I'd need an off line one to convert, due to the complexity of it. Plus i haven't work out what I'd import to - a sand pit area would be no goood for this, so I think an offline editor will be the only way. much to think about hmmmm

thanks

Ya, I have tested the blender script for designing, and the prim plugin one person made works great. However I don't like the way blender itself works :). I am going to try out the 3DMax plugin when I get home today. Sofar ive just been building in game which does require a bit more talent :). Lag and sandbox griefers make things difficult.

Sofar (ive only been playing SL for a month now) I have made 2 buildings. One is a simple simple skybox I just use for trying out clothes and small scale exparaments.

The other is a 60 cubic meter building that I am going to be useing to build buildings in. Right now other then it just being a HUGE freakin cube I place at about 300m altitude in sandboxs, I have 2 security doors and evenualy a roof landing pad. Plus I want to add a set of consoles, each equiped with a modified version of builder's buddy so each console can store a different project so I can easily switch projects and/or have a "holo" system so I can show things to clients from full prefabs, to building parts/textures/furniture etc.

Also want to figure out how to make it more modular so you can just create the 60m square floor, then optionaly add walls, the roof, the cat walks that go around the inside, the elevator, and the control room it'self.
