Offline builder question

I was playing around with Jeffrey Gomez's offline builder tool for Blender (awesome work, btw!) and was wondering if it was possible to get it to output the prim information as a Notecard or text file. If each prim could be listed with all it's various attributes and position, then it would be a fairly straightforward matter to recreate even a complex model directly in SL just by creating the necessary prim types and then entering the relevant data. The position of each prim would need to be adjusted according to the creator's position in SL, but that would be matter of adding/subtracting the prim position info from the creator's position. (Did all that make sense?)

Not sure if this has been suggested before and if so, I apologise for repeating it, but it sounds like a good idea! Whether it's a feasible option or not, I don't know, but I'm sure somebody will tell me :)

The .prims files that the offline builder saves are text files that are suitable for copying and pasting into notecards for use with Thraxis' offline building importer.

There's a couple of things that I've found with playing around with the building importer. The first is that the text files have more precision than the offline builder itself and far more precision than the in game editor and this precision does carry over into the build. In order to get the extremely close tolerances I need for a katana blade I'm working on I roughed out the file in Blender and then went ahead and manually edited the text file. To give you an idea of the precision I got from doing this I have lines such as:

<taper x="0.0" y="0.0434782616794" />

in my notecard.

The other things I've found were that if I made my own 'block' and copied the scripts from the block in the importer than everything I created lists me as the creator rather than Thraxis (which I assume is not a problem with him). Also if I place a copy of the scripts for Skidz Primz in the block than everything created by the importer is made into a Skidz Primz, which is really useful.

Nope, definately not a problem with me if you make your own "block". I've had a few people ask about getting themselves listed as the creator.. and that's exactly what I've told them to do.

I've not personally used Skidz Primz so not sure how usefull they are... not that I'd be able to include it in the Importer LoL

They've got some nice features. I probably shouldn't have said 'really useful' since if you've already placed everything properly in the offline builder then you won't need any of the features it offers, but it can be helpful if afterwards you find that you need to snap together some corners because you were a little off or something.

At any rate, if you already own a copy of Skidz Primz it doesn't really cost you anything to insert the scripts into your block beyond a minute or so of work building the new block.
