In the attached image, the top pic is how the sculpted prim looks once it's completely loaded.

The image on the bottom is when the sculptie texture-map is loaded again after teleporting away and back, or crossing a sim border or similar thing.

The texture map is completely loaded. If I save it back to my local computer and compare it to the texture I originally uploaded, there are some small differences. If I clear the SL cache and log back in, the sculptie is fine again. The corruption doesn't always happen on flying across a sim border, but it does always happen if I tp away from the sculptie and return to it.

Anyone have any idea what's causing this? It happens to all the sculpties I make in Wings3D. The simpler shapes I get from Rokuro or Tokoroten don't seem to suffer from this.

It's a well known bug that's been around for quite some time. It seems LL doesn't really know how to fix it, despite trying several times.

https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2404

It's caused by small lossless textures not being fetched from the cache properly.

My main concern is that lossless sculpties are taking forever to download. and I'm not confident that fixing bug 2404 will fix the the slow arrival of sculpties. At the moment a single 64x64 losslesss sculpty can take as much as a minute to download. Nuts!

Well...#$*%

Are there any good work-arounds? Lossy compression makes messes of my sculpties right off... I've had some success at minimizing the effect of the corruption with a little creative blurring...

It might help to check out Aminom Marvin's recent post on how to process sculpty textures so they're more resistant to the bug.

I have seen it take upwards of 30 minutes, even when regular 512 and 1024 textures were zipping in at mere seconds.

Thanks for the JIRA link, btw!
