I'm having a real job aligning small scale and micro prims, has anyone got any tips for me?
- Changing the position in the edit window jumps too far one way or the other. - Snaping to grid even on the smallest increments does not seem to line up and has huge steps between one increment and the next. - Manually dragging the object seems very difficult to get right, i've spent ages trying to line up a 0.010x0.010 cylinder with a cube (to make a rounded edge cube instead of sharp edges) but still i cant get it just right.
Any tips?, do prim alignment devices work?, are there any you would recomend? Thanks in advance!

I do not know whether any of the prim alignment tools work for small prims, but I will tell you what I personally do. YMMV. First of all, when in tiny mode I use an optical mouse with high resolution and low on-screen movement compared to physical movement (low sensitivity slider? Can't remember). Because dragging with the mouse allows you to adjust at a greater degree of precision than the edit window, if you have a steady hand and lots of patience you can get pretty darned good alignment this way. The other thing I do, which I am sure will not work for everyone, is use a custom build of the SL Viewer made from the open source viewer that does two things: - Allows me to specify and view more decimal places in all of the edit fields.
- Changes the up and down arrows on all edit fields to increment by only 0.001 per click. Well, on fields that allow that kind of precision, at least. Many of the fields use quantized data, so while position allows that kind of sensitivity, cut begin and end do not. In all cases, I use the smallest amount of available precision.
Even with the custom client, I still find myself using the mouse for fine-grained control just for the tactile feedback if nothing else.

If I want to be ultra precise, I do pretty much as Robby describes. I've found zooming in as close as possible helps a great deal, apparently the movement gets coarse as you move away from an object.
Robby, is that custom client publicly available, and if so, where can it be found?
