Does anyone know the perfect formula for height and width of stair steps to prevent the avatar from hop skipping down them (or running)

I think it's less of a height/width problem, and more of a slope over time problem. IIRC on a naked slope avatars start running down on anything over 40deg... I imagine the limit is similar for stairs since the physics engine seems to apply the drops as angular momentum.

From: Nectere Niven Does anyone know the perfect formula for height and width of stair steps to prevent the avatar from hop skipping down them (or running) I use a formula that over time has worked for me. For steps the height is .25 m and the setback of the stair on top of it is .5 meter back. Doing it this way saves time if you have your snap to grid set at .5 too. That seems to prevent the running effect that happens. Void is right about the 40 degree and if you build at .25 m tall and .5 m set back your angle will be less than 40. There is also another trick if your stairs are too tall and its difficult to go up. Place an additional prim over the steps at the same angle and height and width of the steps and make it invisible with an alpha texture. You will walk smoothly up and down without any hesatation and or bumpy look. It uses an additional prim but the smooth effect it produces is better and worth it

thank you for the replies, I think I got it with a .150 rise, .5 depth on a 5.65 rotation for my spiral stairs in the shack.
