Does anyone know any way of getting a prim exactly on a joint (say an elbow)? Tried eyeballing it, but it is painfully obvious if it's even the slightest bit out.

There isn't really a good way to do this other than eyeballing. Luckily for you, and as you stated, it's painfully obvious if it isn't perfectly where it should be it helps to get your avatar into a still pose when positioning attachments. Get it where you think it should be, stand up, move...repeat untill satisfied.

It helps if you have one of those pose stands that plays the "Appearance" animation but lets you fiddle with attachments. This makes sure you stand still and gives you easy access to the elbows. I think I have one I can drop on you if you need it.

If you can't find one Art, IM me in world and I can send you the one I use. It doesn't use the appearance mode animation, but actually resets your avatar to a (mostly) zeroed out pose. Very handy for centering something on your avatar, as the appearance mode pose offsets your av to the left or right a bit.
