The methods for making sculpt textures are all over the place but I was wondering if the reverse is also possible; e.g. get a sculpt texture back in a 3D program?
At the moment I'm using Blender but haven't seen the light for that one.
N.b. before getting flamed why the #% I should want that: I have a project that I couldn't get symmetrical in Blender because of allignment issues, but studying the texture definitions and little fiddling with Photoshop I managed to get a symmetrical object in SL. I would be very happy to have that symmetrical object back in Blender for further sculpting.

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Sculpted_Prims I thought I saw some discussion about that as a future possibility, only in relation to sculpted prims tho so far. I could not find it when I just looked, but that link will represent most of your factual info on sculpted prims.

Strife wrote a nice plugin for Wings3d. It reads Sculpties, so you can export as .obj and import in Blender. I tried it, and noticed that a 128 x 128 Sculpty slows down Wings3D a lot, otherwise it works just fine.
