Distorted Textures on Triangles

When you create a right triangle, (say a 30,60,90), the texture on one side is always distorted, and the other side is normal.

So far as I can tell, it's always the same side, so I can't even slap two together, with the non-distorted sides facing out. Is there a way to fix, or work around, this?

Use planar mapping. That's what it's for.

Toward the top left of the texture tab in the editor, you'll see a pull down menu for mapping type. Change the setting from default to planar. For more info on how it works, see this thread.
