Hello
how can I link objects that don't have the same owner?
We are 2 persons and we have a group but when each of us creates objects we cannot link them between them.It works when the objects are deeded to the group (I cheked modify+copy for next owner), then we can link them, but when I link objects that are deeded to the group and then unlink them, the objects that are not the root prim disapear, lost!
WHY?
Why can't I just do share with group to link?(We are in the same group)
Thank you really very much!

I don't know the answer to this, but I personally always have all prims owned by 1 person before linking. By making an object for sale as original for L$0, an object can be easily transfered from one owner to another. Just make sure the new owner is present to buy it immediately, to prevent someone else from buying it...

In short, you can't safely link stuff with two different owners. One person needs to own all the prims in the linkset.

Player A makes a house. Player B makes the roof.

You have two choices if you want to link them.

1: Player B takes a copy of the roof into their inventory, deletes the roof in-world, and gives a copy of the roof to Player A. Player A rezzes the roof in-world. Now this copy has the same ownr as Player A's other prims. Player A positions the roof on the house, and links the house together.

2: Player B sets the roof for sale, sell original, at L$0, L$1, L$17, or whatever. Player A Buys it, and can then link the roof to the house.

Option 1 is the safest, but requires repositioning the second builder's content in-world.

Option 2 does not require repositioning, but runs a slight risk that some bot or bystander will buy the pieces you were intending merely to transfer. To protect yourself against that possibility, take a copy before setting it for sale.

There is a JIRA request in the works for some way to transfer ownership of in-world prims without having to sell them - or for having the option of only making a prim item available for sale to a specific person.

Technically, deeding all the prims to a group should be the same as all of them having the same owner. If unlinking an item joined that way causes the item to disrupt, that should get bug reported.

Generally, setting your roof for sale at $0 isn't very risky because it's probably named "object" or "roof". If you name it "Sexgen bed 100 anims", well ...

Remember to set it to buy the original, not a copy, and best if you don't leave it there long because someone might just buy it just to cause you grief. (Some may not call that person a griefer but that's a semantic argument!)

Allegedly, the infamous bot that searches the whole grid for objects and lists them on the web ignores "buy original" objects for $0 (or something like that, due to popular request).
