I wanted to taper a prim (box) to around 35 - 40 which is ok no problem. But when I put a texture on this such as bricks or maybe tiles, there is a so called like crease in the texture. Is there any way of getting over this.
What I was building was a chimney breast from a box cube tapering up to the ceiling.

While editing the prim, use the Mapping drop-down box under the Texture tab to select the Planar mapping method. Note that Planar will make textures apply in terms of repeats per meter instead of per face, but it will rid you of the distortion you describe.

Wow, there's so much incorrect and/or incomplete information in that "Texture" article on wikia.com, I scarcely know where to begin. The "Edit Window" article is slightly better in that it doesn't have any incorrect information on it, but that's only because it doesn't really say anything. I had no idea that particular wiki existed. I think I'll just go right on pretending it doesn't. Yuck. Anyway, Nisa, as Snark said, planar mapping will solve your problem. That's precisely what it's there for. If you're looking for a write-up on planar mapping that actually explains it, and is factually acurate (unlike that wiki on both counts), here's a quick guide I wrote two years ago, back when planar mapping was first introduced. I updated it just now to make it a little more current for you (and for anyone else who's interested, of course). /109/1a/93769/1.html#post937140

Thanks for that so mapping would work also on the triangle prim where by one side is ok for textures but the other is on a slant when making like the Apex in roof gable ends.

Edited original response to remove OBE information, which I regret I didn't give more than a cursory glance.
