If you don't like the sandboxes, due to whatever reasons you have, you can try this.

Look for large pieces of for sale land on the map. Check if there is any autoreturn on them. If theres none, you can build there just like a sandbox. The only difference between this and a sandbox is, you should clean up after you're done, because it actually belongs to someone.

If you can't find any, you can use my land in the Moneta sim. Its a large desolate concrete thing. I normally wipe it when I log in.

Obscure Sandbox is pretty cool last I remember.

Ravenglass has one with a 2 hour return in Tuliptree if you need to just slap some prims together for a while.

Personally, I think people should clean up after themselves regardless of where they build. Never mind the twice a day purge, a lot of crap can build up in seconds. Between the piles of junk, fodder from weapons, countless copies of ships/vehicles, and the massive abandoned buildings and sky scrapers, most public sandboxes usually are rendered nothing more than landfills which are impossible to work in. And don't tell me, "just build in the air, some 200 + meters up." That's not the point.

DON'T LEAVE YOUR GARBAGE EVERYWHERE! BE CONSIDERATE OF OTHER PEOPLE USING PUBLIC SPACES!

*sigh* But the reality is that people don't care.

Personally I think public sandboxes should be cleared out 6 times a day and not 2 just for the very reason listed above. I've found it hard to find a place to build because people just dump whatever they want and leave.

I have been told by a couple of older residents that in the old days, it used to be a sort of rule to delete your stuff when you leave the sandbox! So aside from being common sense and normal politeness its something that used to be a kind of policy until LL started getting too swamped to care.

The best suggestion I heard of for cleaning up the sandboxes so people can build again, is to have all your objects be deleted if you don't show up for say... an hour. The idea being that if you leave your stuff and don't think it worth saving and don't come back for an hour or so then the system deletes it for you.

This would also put a stop to all those assholes using the sandbox for free advertising or other griefing and those putting newbie-traps at the central TP point.

I've been to various sandboxes where things are built on unbelievably mass scales and left behind for upwards of a day or so. That being said.. there are also some places that I don't believe clean up during the wipes they claim will happen.

If I may ask.. does anyone here know of a really good area to build portions of homes? Preferably and relatively a place with little lag?

Explorers Rangeland

You could also try Explorers Rangeland. It's big, it's monitored for lag, ground vehicles are kept in check so you aren't likely to be run over by some careless noob, and weapons of all sorts are strictly prohibited unless they're sheathed or holstered, or you're actually building weapons yourself.

It's privately owned and operated, heavily patrolled by the Justice League, and it's one of the most peaceful sandboxes in SL.
