What was round is now hexagonal!

A window that I installed in my house, a round window that I made, has now started to appear very hexagonal to me.

No one else sees it that way but me!

At the same time, some curved rope railing sections I strung between some posts on my deck now look very angular without the nice curve I had before. This too is only visible to me.

Am I going crazy?

HELP!

Check your graphics preferences. Make sure object detail is turned all the way up.

don't grab the prozac just yet!!:) check your preferences:advanced graphics and see what the 'objects' slider is set to - probably lower, than higher... low setting make any curved surfaces stand out as more 'hexy' looking.

i've recently cranked mine to highest, and not noticed -too- severe a framerate hit on my little machine. and i got tired of hexes everyplace... now i'm finding the world a much more curvey place than i ever realized.;)

Thanks Kids!

Sounds llike a self-induced delusion in a quest for better performance!

I'll fix it, because I *LIKE* a curvey world!!!

My settings occassionally degrade my visual experience slightly... seemingly by themselves. Personally, I think that I am changing my settings to slightly higher than the SL client things they should be, so when it detects my hardware... it makes a change. Either that... or SL is playing with my mind. ;)

Not happy about Linden Labs purchase of XStreet (formerly SLX) and OnRez. Will this mean LL will ban resident run online shoping outlets in favor of their own?

I've noticed that too. For me, it's usually when I zoom out on something, like armbands. Upclose, it's round, further away, it's hexagonal. So it could be where you're viewing it from, or (as mentioned several times above) your graphics settings.

But no, it's not just you. =P

problem isn't solved really... in order to speed up the client LL have reduced the LOD threshold way too far imo. We always had the slider that allowed us to do this but now, even with the slider on full, curves become simple polygons far too close. I find this annoying. With each release of the SL client getting slower and slower, I think the LOD reduction is a ruse to make it seem like it's more efficient somehow. Without this sneaky trick the frame rate problems would be far more noticeable.

Shame. At this rate within a couple of releases we'll be looking at cubes and hexagons and curves will be a thing of the past.

I'm all for optimisation but this one's gone too far now, the slider is useless at any setting other than full.

What we need is more detail not less :(
