Linking objects, prims go bezerk

Has anyone had this problem since 1.9 came out....

Trying to link a number of prims, or even unlink a few from an object, and everything flips around. If you change your edit mode (position, stretch, etc.) while this is happening, they will all get frozen in bizarre rotation. A while ago, an entire linkset just disappeared when i tried to unlink it. This is obviously frustrating when working on a project of any scale.

Is it me, or has building been a part of SL that has fallen behind in terms of update priority?

I have noticed that when I unlink the root prim of a linked set; or link a linked set to a new root prim, the linked set prims will flip around, and then settle back to the previous position. I haven't noticed a drift in position or alignment, but it is sure unnerving to watch.

I've noticed this a lot, pre-1.9..

Usually it pops straight back, if it doesn't try linking/unlinking again straight after.

It's a weird little animation. What seems to happen is the prims revert to 0,0,0 rotation for a split second and then dial back to their correct orientation over the next half second or so. It's kind of freaky to watch, but it doesn't seem to be causing any problems as far as I can tell.

As for the disappearing thing, that's another matter, and it's frustrating as all hell. I'm not sure if this is is related to your prims disappearing upon unlinking or not, but I've had parts of linked objects simply go away all by themselves in 1.9. When I select the object, the prims are there, outlined in blue, but I can't see them, collide with them, or interact with them in any way. What's even worse is that when I ask other people what they see, some report seeing the objects as still there and some see the same thing I'm seeing. My only solution has been to rebuild the affected objects, but I don't know if even that is working for every viewer. It's entirely possible that those who didn't have the objects go invisible on their end are now seeing doubles of those prims. I have no way of knowing if they're really gone or not.

Yeah sometimes it's just freaky to watch, but other times it messes up. Like I said, its usually if you change your building parameters from say stretch to position before it has completely settled back in. It seems to freeze at whatever position it was in. This is usually if the object contains say >100 prims.

I've experienced the prim disappearance thing as well, and it seems to be distance dependent. ie distance of your avatar fromt he prims you are working on, although this hasn't shown a terrible amount of consistency. The really annoying part is, when you rebuild the prims, generally the ones that have disappeared will reappear at random later on, which is especially difficult if you don't notice them on a large structure and they reappear to ratchet up your prim count. If found that relogging often makes them reappear, and I generally try to work closely distance wise to what i'm building. Often just moving closer after they disappear will make them come back too.

Oddly enough, i've found that the disappearing thing tends to be connecteed with a specific prim. ie if one object does it, and i take copies of it to put in other places, all of those objects will be more prone to disappear than others. Not sure what that means.

Disappearing prims

I have seen prims disappear like this but if I logoff or tp to another sim and back it appears again. Seems like an update problem. Someone probably took a shortcut in the updates to the client software. Trying to save display process time?
