Looking for an experienced builder to build for me.
I require that a contract be prepared for the job and a deadline. I can be found in SL as Lindsey Barrett or Cadmus Petronius. Please IM me there or post a reply here for any other questions.
Thanks!

Have you tried advertising in the Help Wanted forum? That's what it's there for.

Yeah, probably better move it over there where you haven't posted a private echange publicly presumably without both parties' consent. I don't know about the seasoned builders here, but I wouldn't work for you simply based on ethics alone.

Dani Well Dani, Ethics and business are two different things. At least in my opinion. And as far that exchange, regardless of whether it's ethics, business or morals, or anything else that can be applied, that type of behavior towards a customer/client is unacceptable. And it's close enough to being considered a scam. I almost paid the man what he asked.

From: Lindsey Barrett Ethics and business are two different things. At least in my opinion. Spoken like someone who's never done a day's business in his life. Ethics are the most important part of business. As someone whose run a RL business for 13 years, and an SL business for 2 years, all I can say is God help you if you ever go into business for yourself with that attitude that being ethical is not necessary. I can promise you you'll be out of business within a week. From: Lindsey Barrett And as far that exchange, regardless of whether it's ethics, business or morals, or anything else that can be applied, that type of behavior towards a customer/client is unacceptable. And it's close enough to being considered a scam. I almost paid the man what he asked. Scam? Please. As I said in the other thread, all I saw in that conversation was one person (you) saying a lot of things that made no sense, the other person correcting you, you getting angry about it and swearing a lot, and then you accusing the other guy of somehow trying to rip you off just because you were apparently unable to make sense of the situation. Anyway, you violated your Community Standards agreement with Linden Lab when you posted that conversation, as well as the rights of the other person involved. I realize you're new, but that's no excuse for such unethical and insensitive behavior. That other thread has been reported, and I'm sure it will be taken down by morning. If I were you, I'd drop the subject now while you can still say you made a mistake.

I see then. As far as the posting, my mistake.
However, I was trying to explain what *I* wanted for my sim. And I was trying to ask him to do what he can. He was too focused on correcting me to realize that I was trying to make an understanding of the situation. In business, the customer is ALWAYS right. And I'll leave it at that.

The customer is always right unless they're wrong. You were wrong, both in your understanding of the facts, and in your attitude towards the whole situation. Respecting your customers doesn't mean you turn into a yes man, and just agree with whatever they say, even when it makes no sense. It means you do the responsible thing by always educating your customers so they can learn how to be right. If its clear they don't understand what they're asking for, then its in their best interest and yours to teach them what they need to know. Otherwise you do them and yourself a tremendous disservice. The first thing any smart (and ethical) salesperson knows is that an educated consumer is ALWAYS his best customer.
Without seeing the picture being discussed, it's obviously impossible for any of us on the outside to judge whether the builder was correct that what you were asking for wasn't technically possible, but regardless, one thing is overwhelmingly clear. That person knows infinitely more about the subject than you do, which is why you were discussing hiring him in the first place. You would have done well to have at least taken the opportunity to educate yourself a little by listening to what he was trying to explain to you rather than just getting angry and cursing up a storm.
Anyway, if you don't like his price, that's your perogative, but that doesn't mean he was trying to scam you. Seems to me, you were asking for a project that would take dozens of hours to complete, and the builder simply wanted to be compensated for the time he'd be putting in for you. L$200,000 is the equivilent of somewhere between $500 and $600 US. Maybe you can afford that, and maybe you can't, but either way, it doesn't seem like a whole lot to ask for in exchange for that amount of time and effort, especially when you consider that in the real world, good modelers and texture artists charge upwards of $50-100 per hour or more. If you think a price is too high, you're free to try to find someone willing to work cheaper, of course, but you don't get to cry "scam" just because you might prefer to be a cheapskate yourself.

Thanks for moving your help wanted request to the appropriate forum. Since you've already done so, I'll just close this thread for you.
