Could you build an automatic sliding roof but instead of just sliding back it folds back. like a soft top car roof? Doesn't need to be automatic. Can be button pushed or whatever. if you could im me and ill show you what its for. thanks.

I made a cover for an indoor pool that looks like a large Tatami Mat, and on scripted command it "rolls up", and rests on one side of the pool. Something like that could be used in your case, I think.

The trick is to use prims scripted to resize themsselves, and possibly to change visibility state for the open/closed positions.

For my pool cover, the flat part covering the opening is actually two prims, that open outward to either side by resizing. The rolled may is a third prim. So the two parts move to the side, become invisible, and the rolled part appears.

The simple form for a resizing prim that moves to one side uses a half-cut prim, so resizing it in one dimension moves it to the actual "center" of the prim. This limits the opening width to 5 meters. You could also resize and reposition the prim. Trickier to do, but that would get you a 10 M wide opening.
