When i look at my AV from a distance i can see bare head between my prim hair, but as i move the camera closer it goes away. You can really see it if you zoom (ctrl-0) in from a distance. Is this somthing that cant be fixed? Am i doing somthing wrong? It seems to only happen when the prim is very close to the skin.

It's hard to know exactly what you are seeing without looking at a photo. It may just be a normal factor of distance, however. In order to save time and keep from overloading graphics hardware, SL does not put the same amount of effort into drawing objects at a distance as it does with things that are close to you. As a result, many prims appear to change shape as you back away from them. A smooth sphere appears to develop facets, or a circular ring becomes a six-sided figure, for example. This is a client-side effect, so it will vary from one person's machine to another and can be moderated to a degree by changing your graphics settings in Preferences.
Most prim hair consists of twisted and cut tubes, cylinders, and torii that naturally look different at a distance because of this factor. It's possible that the way your particular hair was constructed, the result is some odd-looking gaps. If you find it especially annoying, you can try editing a copy of the hair to reposition individual prims to cover "bald" spots, or you may have to wear other hair.
