I've seen the video's of flexi tails made of multiple prims.
I'd like to know how exactly these are done, to apply the technique to other types of objects.
Is there a video detailing the construction, or a tutorial on how its done exactly?

Not one that I'm aware of Geuis however NSS will be doing an episode on Flexi's as part of their Noob-be-gone series and I'll see that this gets covered. In the mean time the answer is that two flexi prims of equal length (z-dimension) and with the root at the same location (thats the centre of the lesser z face) with the exact same flexible path settings will follow the same path. You can have different values of x and y scale and you can taper etc the prims differently, also fiddling around with alpha'd textures will show up the parts of the object you wish and not others. Don't forget to check out Beatfox's tail as an example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LlMZjCBJhE .
