Yet another couple of queries.............

Anyone any idea why although in Object mode the x/y/z co-ordinates function correctly, when I go to Edit mode it's the z co-ord value reported in the Transform Properties window that changes when I move the vertices along the red axis?
This is screwing me up for trying to mirror half an object as the mirror effect occurs around the wrong mirror plane.

Second query is connected - I can't seem to get the mirror function to happen around the correct mirror plane. How do I move the plane to the place I want it and also make it happen in say the negative direction rather than the positive.

Apologies if these are basic Blender questions I should know the answer to - I find the manual somewhat difficult to follow.
Thanks all.

There are 2 important functions from objecty mode which may help your problems, ctrl-a = apply scale and rotation, and edit-->transform-->obj data to center (from memory i think this is it).

A golden rule in Blender is to be aware of which mode you are in before adding, rotating and moving stuff.. object mode = good, edit mode = bad (most of the time, but needed sometimes)

Adding a sculptie is view aligned, so hitting 7 on the numpad for top view before adding the sculpt mesh is a good idea.

Mirroring is something I improved for the RC scripts, as long as you add in the top view, X and Z axis mirroring should work as expected, except for plane and hemi, where X & Y work.

Thanks, Why and Dom.

Guess I should spend a bit more time studying before asking questions....... would you care to hazard a guess as to who discovered the difference between Global and Local co-ordinates while messing with Blender waiting for some kind soul to help with my queries, and so now feels a tad foolish. :o

Also, managed to find the relevant page of the manual to get the hang of moving the object 'centre' to the appropriate spot on the desired mirror planeand hey presto the mirror function worked a treat!

Dom, I see from the Blender Sculpty Importer thread that you've already tweaked the scripts in a way which from first reading appears to resolve my earlier query on sculptmap naming. Way to go! Would you now consider running for President or similar office - I'd vote for you! :D
