Left Click "Open" object

My client wants objects that give outfits. None of the scripts I found seemed quite satisfactory so I thought if I set the object to "open" when left clicked anyone who left clicked it would be able to copy the contents to their inventory. It worked great when I tried it out but now at almost the last minute it turns out that when other people open it and try to copy the contents to inventory they aren't allowed to do so.

You can set the item to sell contents for L$0. This has the advantage of getting recorded in your clients transactions so they can track the numbers of the people who took the freebies.

Thanks for answering Sylvia, that's what I usually do, and that's what I changed these things to when I realized the open option didn't work. I'm just surprised that it didn't I kind of thought I had done it that way before and also that I had been able to get things out of other people's objects like that. But you're saying it just never does work that way?

I haven't tried other methods so I am rather vague about this myself. Did you set each content item to "allow anyone to copy"? And even if you did, that might only work for rezzed objects.

Well i didn't want them to be able to get copies of the object - just the contents.

Set to sell for $0L and tick the "Contents" button in the Object menu?

Or maybe I misinterpreted the question.

Selling for L$0 is how I usually give things away.
The question was if I didn't make it for sale but just set it to "open" when left clicked could anyone open it and get the contents. For some reason I assumed that would work but it seems that way only the owner can save the contents to inventory.
